Tomasz Adamek Speaks “It was over in the second round”

I actually turned to the person next to me in the second round when I was watching the fight and told him the fight was over. Vitali was in total control. Props to Adamek for his brave effort though and staying classy after the loss. He's a wonderful representative of the sport.

As to what to prove - uh, that you can still win at the elite level and be a champion? Because it isn't happening at HW.

 

In a sport filled with sore losers that come up with an excuse every time they lose, it's great to see a fighter be completely open and honest and admit that he simply couldn't beat his opponent because his opponent was better. I don't see how anyone can not have great respect for this guy. He knew he had no chance after the second round yet still fought on and took a beating for another 8 rounds just to please his fans.

 

If the Klits retire in the next few years he definitely can be a champion.

Adamek is a CHAMPION, but his body is that of a natural CW....not LHW, and definitely not a HW. That division, was basically created for those guys who were too big for LH, and too small to compete vs giant HW's like Foreman, Lewis, and the K2.

Back in the old days, big guys were only successful b/c of their size....they were basically w/o any skill whatsoever, and the little guys like Charles, Louis, and the Rock could chop em down. That is not the case today. Big guys like Lewis, K2, and Dimitrenko, Valuev have tools, grit, and ring command. Smaller guys just don't stand a chance unless the large HW has a complete chinachin.

Adamek could go down to CW and reclaim his throne.

I agree fights at CW vs USS/Huck/Etc. are much more appealing to me, its the $$$ at HW and attention there that's too much to ignore.

By the time the Klitschkos retire (which I suspect won't be for a bit longer; aybe next yeat for Vitali and 2013/14 for Wladimir) new giants will have emerged. Inferior giants, but still giants compared to Adamek.

I don't see him beating Helenius, Wach, Dinu, etc.

Beating giants who are old and shot (Grant, McBride) or just altogether ineffective against the slightest bit of evasive movement (Arreola) is one thing. Anyone who's that much bigger than him and halfway decent will be too large a hurdle. He may not get dominated and stopped quite like he did last week, but he'll lose.

Meanwhile, cruiserweight is right there for the taking. He could seriously unify now (assuming he's full of **** about how making the weight would drain him).

 

No one is praising Vitali in this thread, most are giving props to Adamek for being a stand up and honest fellow.
