Who knows with this kid. Being in CT might help his cause.

Well he always had a shot, he just has even less of a shot now, IMO.

i actually think due to his speed he had a great shot at beating hopkins.
however im not sure where hes at mentally with this switch.
to sack him this close to the fight.

i think he can still win but the steward sacking says a lot about his state of mind atm and he will most likely be schooled by b-hop

Steward is the best trainer in the business, so Chad chances dropped but he still got i believe 40%

I would say as much chances.

Dawson's problem are more psychological than physical.

With or without Steward, he'll come physically in shape and ready.

I believe Dawson (at his best) has the style to beat Hopkins.

Don't expect a very entertaining fight...

Dont think it makes any difference to be honest. Dawson fights in a similar style in his fights and I dont think it will change.
I struggle to pick a winner in this fight and cant really decide, but if I had to I would pick Dawson.
Hopkins has a style weakness to fast 2 handed fighters his own size and Dawson fits that criteria.
I will be the first to praise Hopkins if he wins clearly

Sure. Steward wanted Dawson to be more aggressive which probably wasn't what it was going to take to beat Hopkins. Dawson needs to pick his shots, use his feet and fight from the outside.

I'm not sure John Scully can come up with a plan to outwit Hopkins though.

There is a reason why Hopkins avoided this man ..If he can keep his head right he should be able to beat Hopkins ..Manny didn't make or break him ..If anything he could have improved him ..

Chad's last fight Diaconu, his first fight under Steward...he actually looked the same if not a little worst, at this point in his career I doubt any trainer could make major change in his performance, Chad is vet now, I say trainers are overrated when it comes to stepping in and taking over for a veteran fighter...

Most times when a fighter hires a high profile trainer they perform no better and in a lot of situations they lose, so him not having Steward won't hurt him or help him because he is who he is...

With that said Dawson beats Hopkins, just too young too fast and too patient, Benard at this age would do better against an aggressive fighter this is not Chad, I fully expect Benard to look the way he did against Roy the second time around old, dirty and complaining..B-hop retires after this...

Chad has some of the same intangibles as Taylor and we know how those fights ended, they were close but B-Hop lost..

He probably has a better chance, IMO. Dawson's weak areas are aggressiveness and mental makeup, two areas Steward doesn't train well in. Scully is probably a much better option.
