Everyone knows you're an idiot. Bunce is one of the few serious journalists getting this sport coverage and fighting for it in the mainstream.

Dislike his opinions if you so choose, but don't say he's bad thing when anyone with a brain (not you) knows different.

I usually don't mind listening to Bunce. Sometimes I don't agree with him, but he's good for boxing. I was happy when I read that Primetime were going to use him for the Mayweather/Ortiz broadcast - had hoped Channel 5 would have used him for the last Fury fight - but I don't believe he's doing anything but trying to drum up support for one of his friends here.

To be honest, If I were fighting Vitali, and had just watched back to back performances against Briggs & Adamek, I wouldn't be feeling optimistic about beating him. I dont get why people think he looked old against Briggs, he was extremely active throughout, particularly considering his age, then you see him against Adamek and he completely beasts the guy out of the ring.

So Vitali fell over, is that gonna equate to Haye beating him, or mean its a viable option to wanna see the fight?

I have Vitali winning by KO/TKO, but at the end of the day, everyone gets old at some point, even the best of them/us.

I like Steve Bunce as a Boxing personality, he's a good guy to, but he loses a bit of respect for himself when he does stuff like this imo.

Steve Bunce is fortunate to be able to do the job he does, so I always think it must annoy him that he feels the need to make outlandish statements to gain notoriety, rather than giving his actual honest opinion.

If I were a journo, I would never do that kind of thing just to make a name for myself. I'd rather make a name by being honest, being respected for giving my honest opinions, irrespective of whether they cooperate with what the fighters/promoter wants to hear, albeit I would still be respectful. I just wouldn't cultivate my opinion around what they wanna hear.

There is nothing better than a journo who has respect for his talents as a journo (Al Bernstein), than favorably hyping stuff up for promoters/fighters to gain notoriety.

I dont mean any offense to Steve Bunce, he's a great guy, but I dont agree with what he does in terms of hyping fighters up like this.

IMO though, Bunce on 'putting it all on the line' on a Vitali slip, is as honest as a man can be. The man has posted what he sees as a weakness that Haye can exploit & win against the odds, how that is 'trying to make a name for himself'(when everyone who is a boxing fan on these shores knows his name)??? Haye is the underdog, & if he gets beat again, Bunce suffers for getting it wrong. Its not like Bunce is in a win-win situation here, quite the opposite in fact!

maybe Bunce just has too much faith in boxers from his neck of the woods, but dont we all? Its hardly a crime!

I dont think he truly believes that personally.

He's reminds me of Adrian Durham. Everybody knows who he is, but he still uses a certain style of broadcasting to stay popular, in the consciousness of fans.

Dude, no offense to Steve Bunce, but people have a perception of him as being biased, so irrespective of whether he's wrong, it will be water of a ducks back to most.

    Would Haye-Fury really satisfy purists?

It's only marginally better than the Haye-Harrison.

Haye's above that level and it'd hurt me to see him raking it in fighting to that level again.

As for all the **** talking about Bunce I find it odd.

The man likes his boxing and does what he can to get it out there.

    No Manilow

The people at ESPN are happy that the column has attracted more readers. That's good.
Hand on heart I was not making an outlandish statement...I watched big Vitali and I saw the faults I have mentioned.
The charge for a fight was NOT led by me - David has not spoken to me since limping to the lift at about 2am after the fight.
Listen to BBC Five Live's monthly Boxing show tonight at 8pm (No BBC London tonight) for the reality.
And don't forget the Primetime action with my online brethren from about 10pm on Saturday night. Details to follow.
    Adios.

    Mr.Farm,
Yes they will, trust me. So will the Germans. So will TV all over the world. It's the way the sport works and has always worked. I'd like to see it sold very differently. I'd like to see Haye praise V and W, talk about their legacy, talk about what terrific humanitarians they are. I'd like to see that. Not gonna happen, sorry.

    Adios.
