I'm inclined to believe Wlad the stories about no top contenders being ready or willing to take that title shot, so I don't agree with fans holding the defense against him. Where's the outrage from the other heavies that Wlad's targeting Mormeck? If the higher ranked contenders have an issue with that choice, now's the time for any of them to throw their name out there and speak up.

Their silence is deafening.

 

This is going to be the lowest class opponent Wlad has faced in years. I can't believe they couldn't come up with someone better, certainly now both brothers have shown those ex cruiserweights of late don't stand a chance against them.

And like mentioned Mormeck is almost 40 and even worse as when Haye and Bell KO'd him. Wlad has to blitz this guy, that's the only way to come out looking good.

Better a fight than no fight at all. That´s probably the only positive thing about this fight. This is more or less like Louis´s "Bum of the month" -type of fight.

But hey, nobody´s counting them out of Joe Louis´s resume. At the end of Wladimir´s career he´ll have a hell of resume of his own.

 

Offer enough money and people will fight anyone.

A number of contenders could be forcing the issue just like David Haye did if they started publicly pushing for an opportunity. They don't have to wait on an offer from Wlad to start making noise to help build interest in the fight...but none of them really comes off as all that heartbroken or offended to be sitting on the sidelines while the lower ranked man gets sent to the slaughter.

It seems like many of them have simply conceded that Wlad's the best and are content not to take the beating in the ring to risk their own records. Instead they're waiting around like vultures for him to get old and hoping they improve enough in the meantime to take advantage of the decline.

 

Yeah, I'll be interested to see if he gets more than a mando challenger would have. If not, I would suspect the other suspects are trying to position themselves into that spot purely to ensure they get a bit more money.

The ones willing to take less are probably those that can't feasibly work themselves into that position.

And wasn't there mention a while back about Mormeck beating Wladimir in the amateurs back in the day? Maybe that's why Wlad is picking him. :think
