Yes, I think it would be in the Douglas-Tyson category. Maybe not quite as big as that, but in the same ballpark. Bigger than any other upset this century IMO. Mayweather hasn't lost since Castillo in 2002 IMO, and that was 9 years ago. Ortiz has drawn with Lamont Peterson and lost to Marcos Maidana within the last couple of years. So yeah, it would be HUGE.
i'm gonna throw a few hundred on Ortiz when i get out there later today. Not expecting him to win, but if he wins, it'll get me just about enough $ to afford my Jets super bowl ticket.
This justs goes to show someone hasnt been follow the sport very long Douglas though he was a huge under dog, He was a legit top ranked contender at the time and if you were actually old enough to understand what was going on back then you would know this perhaps your not and all you have are just reports from that upset and fight tapes to go on but douglas was legit. I also note the downplaying of an ortiz win another wag of the finger to ya:nono A win here for Victor is a huge upset bigger than Taylor over Hopkins thats for sure nothing will top the douglas upset considerin the circumstances douglas lost his mother just days prior to that fight and everybody knew he didnt have a chance Here we dont have that but what we do have is what some people think is the best P4P fighter going against what those same very people call a quitter a win here for that "Quitter" makes an instant star and Floyd well lets just say this he better not lose to a guy known as a quitter
Because of the hype Ortiz is getting as a hungry young lion it won't be considered anywhere near as big as Tyson-Douglas, no-one saw that one coming. The fact Floyd is old, has been inactive, will lessen some of the shock effect. Someone said Tarver-Jones, I agree it will be on that level. IMO it would be top 5 of recent times, atleast of the higher profile fights, with Pac-De La Hoya, Calzaghe-Lacy, Rahman-Lewis, Sanders-Wlad.
:thumbsup Exactly. Nobody expected Douglas to even have a snowballs chance in Hell. It was crazy talk to even suggest such an impossibility. Ortiz has a chance, a small chance, but still a chance.
