to be fair the legal enforcement for drinking here based upon age is barely reinforced, you have to do something pretty absurd to get carted off to jail. at least where i'm from. The cops cared a little more in high school, it was common for someone throwing a party to get some sort of punishment if things went south. But I've gotten by ordering a beer with food since i was about 15-16 depending on location. And yeah i'm something of a weird **** i suppose
Yea, yea, we'd all be shaking in our boots too scared to speak our minds because we'd be so affraid of stonehands89 the internet warrior who's never boxed, you knobcheese
... http://www.thesweetscience.com/columnists/springs-toledo he would most likely **** punt you out of the weight room
I thought he stated on here he hasn't boxed, maybe that was klompton, still I can tell from his writing he hasn't got a clue about the mechanics, plus he's a relic Yea yea he's such a bad ass because he writes boxing articles He's an internet warrior who calls others cowards for expressing their opinion and laughing on the internet, while saying he'd give them a kicking behind his keyboard. Ironic because he wouldn't say that to anyone's face himself
Right, right, certainly you know more about boxing mechanics than a guy who's recognized by the BWAA for his efforts in boxing writing, i'm sure. Klompton and S have both boxed from what i recall at any rate. The whole point wasn't that he was threatening anyone or claiming he'd talk like that face to face- it's that pachilles and manbearpig are mongs for insulting an old man behind a computer screen. It was never a matter of 'opinion', and if you're interpreting that talk as such i don't know what to say. i won't accuse you of the same because i didn't perceive your initial comments that way.
I don't think you would. But then again, I don't think you would verbally abuse a senior citizen, calling him a "c**t" and other vile epithets, and try to humiliate him in public. This isn't about speaking your mind. You posted earlier that you wouldn't disrespect a man for staying away from the drink and that it was an "admirable stance". How do you feel about those who indulge in the above-mentioned antics? If we were all in that hypothetical room or conference hall would YOU sit back and watch passively if some punks were doing that? What would the admirable stance be in that scenario?
You don't accept shite, but you're quick to sling it. Let's take a look at you, sitting there in your raggedy chair at home: You -type- that Burt is "arrogant" and "condescending" because he has socks older than you and he's sharp enough to offer opinions that don't come out of last week's Ring magazine. Swarmer is "pretentious" because he speaks up and checks on you on your disrespect. I'm "pretentious" because I speak up and check you on your disrespect. --And you pretend that you're the one who'd "speak up" if you were in the same room? Something tells me that your belt size ain't enough to boost your confidence. I bet it would take you about eleven beers before you opened your mouth.
--And here's #2! Chickens coming home to roost. Powder puncher strains his brain to get philosophical about the morality of modern warfare, but can't spell "afraid." (And I'm the knobcheese.)
Ahhh you mean other journos who haven't boxed thought he was good at writing about boxing Is this the joker who claims 'I don't watch boxing anymore', miserable pretentious old *******. Isn't he the guy that claims RJJ has no boxing skill or technique and only had success because he was just athlete I didn't see any insults, I saw a joke, based on a discussion where Burt condemned Ali for his stance on vietnam. Ali's reasoning for not going to Vietnam was that he didn't want to kill innocent people, hence the joke. I didn't make any insults, I gave my opinion and he included me. Just like he says 'threats from the safety of behind his keyboard', the definition of keyboard warrior I didn't see anyone on this thread abuse or swear at Burt, if they did then obviously that's wrong. The joke Pachiles made would be common type of banter in many British work places and is common of Pachiles joking/trolling posts. American's don't tend to get British sarcasm/irony, so maybe that's why everyone that's been upset by this has been American....
Also, just to clear the absolute nonsense you have come out with. Me calling people pretentious due to them 'speaking up'? Are you deliberately playing dumb to make it look more noble on your part? I'm obviously referring to your elitism when saying you are pretentious. "Oh I have written many, many books and articles on boxing, who are you?" As for Swarmer, I pointed it out due to his whisky affliction (rightly or wrongly - he appears to genuinely be into the stuff) I merely treat Burt the same as any one else. And on this thread I hardly 'abused him'. If he were younger (same age as me) and held the same views "Clay was a draft dodger - not that good a fighter (all glitz no substance)" etc... He'd be called up on it. It's a double standard. A total double standard.
