How you guys gonna complain about this when you do the same exact thing to another boxer?? You do it to other boxers expect it to be done to your favorite boxer.

Besides the only complaint I have heard about Pac fighting Marquez has been the catch weight of 144 not the opponent. With that said I would have liked Pac to have fought Berto instead of Mosley. It would have been a more exciting fight especially since Berto was more of a wildcard at that time. But that's not a complaint just my opinion.

If he fights one, I wouldn't mind seeing that turtle-head from 140 get pounded till he headbutts the canvas

I've said for a while now that one of the most amazing things Pac and his team have done is to convince the entire boxing world that fighting old past prime big names is better than fighting a lesser known up and coming talent.

Better for Pacs wallet maybe. Not for competitive fights.

I would like to see Pac fight someone who won't be retired before they have 5 more fights.

so if he fought and beat someone like Mike Jones, that would validate his entire life's work for you?

What about Kell Brook? Young and up and coming guy. Pac whoops him in 3 rounds, would that make Pac's resume more credible?

    :rofl

Marquez has the style to trouble Pacquiao. It's possible he can come in great shape and have one last great night in him. Those other "young guns" on the other hand aren't going to turn into the rhythmic, laterally rotating combination-throwing counter-punchers that they would need to be no matter how well they train.

This. JMM is the one who has the mojo to go "at" Pac, but now he's too old or Pac should fight someone younger. Most of the young guns, like Berto, Ortiz... wouldn't make it past the 3rd round but it's a better fight? Am I missing something here?

Mike Jones? meh But yes, I agree with your post in general. Not Miguel Cotto who had lost one of his previous 3 fights and arguably lost to Clottey as well. Not Maragrito coming off of a suspension and the worst KO of his career. Not Oscar who Roach had trained and claimed was shot and then drained down to almost JWW after saying for years that he couldn't make 147 anymore. **** Josh Clottey all around. Hatton was OK, though most will acknowledge that he was badly faded as well. Now MArquez who is what 37? 38? That is ****ing ancient for a lightweight fighter.

Yes, mixed in with the MArgaritos and Oscars, I would like to see a Tim Bradley, a Victor Ortiz etc.

Dude, the "#2" welter sounds great on paper until you realize how far the drop is after Pac and Floyd in the WW division. Sure, floyd needs to fight someone, and Ortiz fits the bill. But we gotta keep this in perspective. "Young and hungry" are just buzz words. Young and hungry could easily describe ANYONE who's young. Could be on a 4 fight skid and that line fits. It's like the Mayweather vs. JMM fight ALWAYS being called a WW fight between the top two P4P fighters. Marquez camp was not allowed to discuss the weight in interviews until the fight was over. Fishy huh? tha't what lanbels give you, false impressions.

What's more impressive is tested and accomplished. Ortiz has accomplished very little so far in his career. Win or lose, I do see him as being a player in the next two divisions for a while. As for tested, we failed his first test then he was put on his seat a few times by Maidana then quit rather then digging deep. His win over Berto helped ease the pain of that, but doesn't erase it. A win over floyd, depending on how it goes, CAN erase that. Anyway, sorta lost my train of thought.

This whole 'young, hungry, lion' talk, it't just talk and buzz words.

unless he moves up in weight again then the only meaningful fight is jmm and floyd .. maybe khan, but that won't happen.
