JDK was a personal philosophy rather than a true martial art. And plenty of guys were cross training way before Bruce Lee. Jack Dempsey, for example, wrote a self defence book in which he espoused the benefits of cross training in wrestling, jui jitsu and of course boxing before Bruce was even training Bruce may be the most influential, being a movie star, but he was not the 1st by any stretch of the imagination Check out some of cross trainers threads
