I started a thread the other day about David Haye being overrated but what do people think of Carl Froch? Carl Froch is my Favourite current sportsman and think he is class but what are other peoples views? There are two ways of looking at his resume: This is the negative way: Jean Pascal - Beat an average fighter who was beaten by a 46 year old Hopkins. Jermaine Talyor - A past it blown up middleweight. Andre Dirrell - Was given a home town decision Mikkel Kessler - Lost to someone who had already been beaten by Ward and Calzaghe. Arthur Abraham - A poor one dimensional blown up middleweight. Glenn Johnson - An old man who strggled to make supermiddle. This is my view and the positive way: Jean Pascal - Quality operator who won the light heavyweight title. Jermaine Talyor - A fantasitc fighter who twice beat Hopkins. Andre Dirrell - Beat the slickest and fastest super middleweight there is. Mikkel Kessler - Lost a close decision that could of gone his way in Kessler's home country. Arthur Abraham - Made a quality fighter who'd only lost once look average with a boxing master class. Glenn Johnson - Beat a naturally bigger man who campaigns at light heavy with a throughly professional performance. What do people think on Carl Froch and his resume?
His resume with regards to how boxers are managed nowadays is top class. Truly top class and it's only going to get stronger if he continues to win. Sometimes many class him on his style/personality rather then his achievements and he's doing amazing stuff right now. He gets the job done nine times out of ten. For me he's starting to convince people who were skeptical of him that he's world class. A year or two back and i'd of said vastly underrated on this board and in general.
I can remember when froch was lined up to face Denis inkin only for it to fall through twice and thinking there's something fishy going on here froch and his team are scared, they don't want the fight, and then froch showed us all what he was made of against pascal, from then on I was sold! Great chin, good power and a very underated jab, if he works on his speed and defence he could beat ward, I have him winning a rematch with Kessler and also beating bute in a very entertaining fight, let's hope it happens.
No one on his resume is mindblowing but hes consistently fighting top guys. As Wallet says you can disect any record if your try but the fact of matter is his last 6 fights were against legit world class opposition and before then he wasnt exactly fighting bums, magee is now the proud owner of a bull**** title for example.
only reason is he not given more praise and attention is cos he has just started fighting on sky and the rest of the general people dont really know him so he doesnt really get rated to an extent...... fact is among boxing fans he is very highly thought of and rightly so, his record says that, and only a close points defeat to a very in form kessler speaks volumes of the mans acheivements....... the string of fights he has had on his title run and including all the super six bouts, well i cant think of a better modern day string of opponents.......... so id say that froch is ****ing quality, say no more. appart from that he seems a genuine bloke who you could have a good craic and a night out with, hes a down to earth lad. warrrrr cobra!
He is the best fighter this country has got, khan will be but not for another 2-3yrs. He is under-rated.
:deal Johnson never struggled with the weight and was competitive right through the fight. Kessler beat him, no if's, but's or maybe's about it. Taylor reverted to form and gassed, Froch was much stronger down the stretch. Dirrell felt he lost the fight and had fits trying to time him all night. Abraham the very fact that he boxed to instructions for the entire fight perhaps proves that they respected Abraham's power and therefore decided to box his head off. Pascal at the time could be argued that both were sluggers and just went at it until Froch's superior conditioning took him through. At the start he was underrated and still is by some.
Underrated or overrated depending on who is doing the rating. The same as every one of these threads.
People forget for the Kessler fight froch could only fly over something like a day before the fight because of that big ash cloud.
Depends who's rating him. Boxing fans? The odd arsehole aside know Carl's worth and the quality of fighters that he's fought in the last 4 or so years. General public? Probably wondering why he hasn't fought Amir Khan yet.
