Excuses sound more legit when other people make them for you.

Mayweather has hand speed, reflexes, athleticism, reach, technique, boxing skill, boxing IQ, footwork, timing and conditioning over Cotto. Cotto also cuts very easily and doesn't have the head movement to avoid anything Mayweather throws.

Cotto doesn't train hard enough to beat Mayweather in the ring. He can't match Mayweather's preparation. The only conclusion that anyone give on how Cotto beats Mayweather is that he has a punchers chance of catching Mayweather with a punch to hurt him that's it.

So why didn't the Mayweather Cotto fight happen when they both were @ 140?

He wasn't ready in 2008 either. Nor was he ever ready to face Floyd.

At no point in Cotto's career does he beat Floyd...

Cotto is/was a poor version of Castillo, he would had no chance against Mayweather especially at 140.

It's true Lance. Cotto was never on Floyd's level, ever! Losing to Margo does not make you an elite fighter.
