But the term MMA, as well as a Professional fight in the Octagon, both started in the UFC

he never fought professionally however he is still considered to be the first creator of mma in which he employed boxing, wing chun and fencing to form the martial art known as jet kune do

JDK was a personal philosophy rather than a true martial art. And plenty of guys were cross training way before Bruce Lee. Jack Dempsey, for example, wrote a self defence book in which he espoused the benefits of cross training in wrestling, jui jitsu and of course boxing before Bruce was even training

Bruce may be the most influential, being a movie star, but he was not the 1st by any stretch of the imagination

Check out some of cross trainers threads

No it wasn't. It was created by Antonio Inoki when promoting pro-wrestling in Japan.

And christ...there were Vale Tudo fights in Brazil from the 1930s...with shoot wrestling fights from before the turn of the 20th century.

Oh, dear.... I'm sure Bruce Lee hadn't heard of any of this stuff when he came up with his idea of mma.
