this is true, everyone should write into sky, taking our anger out on primetime wont do **** all as they will keep putting on ppv's because they dont need many buys to be profitable(especially at 15 ****ing quid), most on here have the sky sports package for boxing now by the looks of it most big american cards wont be on sky, as much ****s that primetime are they are really just opportunistic ****s and sky are the real ****s here, everyone should start bombarding adam smith with emails of threatening to cancel not only sports but the whole package from sky if things dont change

we are getting screwed over big tyme

I don't think there is any sport that shows as much contempt towards its fans as boxing.

And people don't give a ****. They still pay extortionate to get treated little better than criminals at shows, will still pay x amount for shitty PPV's at 5am in the morning and are content with any old **** the promoters put forward most Saturday nights. Sure you get folk complaining on places like here, but it never makes any difference.

Guys relax a little bit k? The title of the thread was a question. It is not confirmed that this will go to Primetime (as Venus has said as well) so lets wait for now.

    I pray not.

The odd PPV is fine, but if we have to pay for PPV every other month when it comes to a big event, then that's not cool.

Def. should be asking questions of Sky (like "How much boxing do I get for £100 a month?") IMHO....

  8. Football shows very little respect to actual fans, in large part because of Sky. Kick offs get changed at very short notice to accommodate their schedules, after fans have bought tickets for travel/accommodation, with no refunds given. Also Sky will emphasise their 'big club' (rich club) agenda and completely ignore the other sides. The ones that take up the other 85/86 positions in the football league.

The 'mission statement', which was intended as a justification for the creation of the premier league contained two interesting points. The first, that ticket prices would be partially subsidised by Sky's money, the second, that the national team and grassroots would benefit massively by the changes. All absolute horse****. Fans are priced out everywhere, lower league clubs struggle for attendances due to the over saturation of footy on TV and the only clubs who benefit are regular champions league entrants whose ranks are swelled by kids, to the detriment of the local clubs they should be supporting.

People that parrot this line, in general, don't regularly attend games live. They are the real lifeblood of the game. Who wants to see a match being played in an empty stadium? (Apologies if you're a notable exception.)

Sorry about that, a boxing forum isn't really the place but the way football has gone and continues to go drives me absolutely mad.

Boxing is totally different of course. I think with boxing, as with other sports that currently lack mass appeal (i.e. cricket), the only way to genuinely boost this appeal is to stick it on terrestrial. And I mean the big fights, if only occasionally. Sadly this won't happen, in which case the next best thing is Sky paying money and reinvesting it in smaller events. (Like they do with cricket.) Primetime really does **** all for the sport. I'd urge everyone with a Sky Sports subscription to e-mail sky, asking them what their plans are in terms of getting these events and threatening to sack off your contract if they're not interested. Even if it's only a bluff a decent volume of correspondence might get them thinking.

They aren't doing 5 figures. The hardcore fanbase know they can get the fight through other means and casual fans aren't staying up until 5am watching 2 non-Brits one of whom they've never heard of.

Primetimes breakeven point will be higher than 3,000 buys as well anyway, that is if they paid 50k for it, which isn't verified. They have a studio team to pay for, commentary team to pay for, and to fly out to Vegas, then there is also all the technical support staff. And of course the people they pay to try n sell there **** on boxing forums.

I'm pretty sure GBP will be getting a % of sales rather than a fixed fee.

The anger towards primetime is wrong. Point it towards sky if you like.

The bbc are only getting half of formula 1 next year, half the races. Sky are getting them all. Who's fault is this? It's not sky's (and I'm not a fan of theirs, they have a habit of turning popular sports into minority sports), the anger should be directed at the bbc for not bidding higher.

    Same with sky here.

Remember guys sports is a business and most of the sports stars and broadcasters dont really give a **** about their fans.

    Dont ever believe otherwise.
