Alvarez crouches down and catches Gomez running in, grabbing him around the waist. They trade jabs and miss. Huge Canelo chant from the Los Angelinos. Gomez is using a lot of swirling movement with his upper body. They trade hooks, landing. Gomez is on the front foot and gaining ground from Alvarez. Jab to the forearm by Alvarez. Now a triple hook by Alvarez! Short right hand by Gomez, and then a double jab fluttering in the air as Alvarez backs up. Long jab by Alvarez, and Gomez throws a 1-1-2 lunging in and missing. They do a slow dance, taking turns leading. One man sets a foot forward and the other backs up, and then they switch. Gomez down! Knockdown? YES, body shot left hook! He just spilled to the canvas. Gomez is up. Bell.

Gomez is coming in very low, moving his upper body in U-shapes coming forward and swiping with jabs. Alvarez tries to line him up with jabs and action-figure left hooks but misses. Gomez is using his tricky movement to wind his way inside and tap the body. Alvarez tries to get some body hooks going but his combination is very slow and wide. Now Alvarez throws a better body combo, mixing in the right hand and picking up in both speed and power. Gomez ducks, moves in, pops the body, and works his way back down and outside. Nice scraping left hook by Alvarez just before the bell.
