Mayweather/De La Hoya II: Floyd has to take the fight

    Floyd has no reasonable choice but to take this fight. Like most hardcore fans, this fight isn't at the top of my wish list. However, Mayweather has no other logical choice at this point. In actuality, he would be a complete idiot not to take the fight, granted that DLH is fair in the negotiation process. Thoughts?

    There are other fights out there for Floyd - but money wise - there really isn't another fight where he'll make the same kind of money.

    However - Cotto is at the top of almost everyone's list of opponents we'll like to see him fight.

    why not? i've fallen out of touch with any potential cotto-mayweather activity.

    Having DLH-Mayweather is better than just seeing Mayweather semiretired, which was the original plan.

    surely floyd's got to be careful again, after all oscar 'packs quite a wallop' and no doubt he's gonna 'make it a rough and tough fight'.

    Simple, if Floyd turns down Hoya and goes after Cotto, Cotto will simply turn down Floyd and negotiate a fight with Hoya.

    Oscar doesn't know how to fight rough and tough. I'm not saying Floyd will go toe to toe with him but I bet you he throws more punches this time.

    I appreciate your input. I personally would rather see Floyd fight a host of other fighters. However, a ton of people will buy this fight. You can pretty much guarentee at least 1 million buys. Once again, Floyd would be stupid to turn this fight down. He has no other reasonable choice.

    Read my earlier post. It's not possible for Floyd to fight Cotto, then fight De La Hoya.

    What part of "Oscar can make 30 million fighting the janitor at Mandalay Bay" do you not understand? He'll NEVER have a fight that nobody is interested in. His fanbase is made up of mostly casual fans. I hate him but the truth is the truth.
