Its very possible that it was fixed. The thought occurred to me for a couple reasons.

    1. Ortiz was much more effective in the fight that anyone thought he would be.

    2. Ortiz was walking through straight right hands all night long and the announcers commented on it many times.

    3. Floyd is no KO puncher.

Playing Devils Advocate, reasons it may not have been fixed.

    1. What did Floyd have to gain by fixing the fight? I can't think of anything.

    2. Floyd has already been quoted saying he won't give a rematch "because the same thing would happen." He feels that he was dominating the fight.

    3. Cortez shafted Hatton in the FMJ fight, but seemed to be letting Ortiz manhandle FMJ. Also,

My final thoughts: Ortiz seemed genuinely excited in there because he was having moments of success. Floyd was frustrated for the same reason and took an opportunity to win cheaply by hitting Ortiz with his hands down, before the ref said "Box!" after stopping the action.

    Was it cheap? Yes.

Was it a bull**** ending? Yes.

Was it a victory? No. I had it even until the headbutt.

Was it a win? Yes. It was a legitimate win.

Will there be a rematch? I don't think so.

Yeah it was fixed. Who the hell would headbutt 5 times in 4 rounds and worse is that they are obvious headbutts. LOL at a time when hes the one throwing punches. The headbutt also was part of the script so Mayweather could have a reason to throw those cheap shots. So his image would still be clean for the floydettes.

Why do we readily eat bacon and cheese in burgers but not to much in sandwiches?

Floyd doesnt have anymore money and boxing is his source of income. But right now, he cant just fight whenever he wants to coz pac is waiting for him. So in order to avoid pac, he has to fight with a boxer who is perceived to be as risky as pac. Floyd was criticized for fighting old/lighter than him so he has to choose a bigger and younger but at the same time he can bribe. Pac is not someone he can bribe coz hes a cash cow himself while ortiz hasnt receive a paycheck like he receive in this fight during his lifetime.

Floyd knows that the only thing that gives him the money is his 0 loses and he would never risk it and so he wouldnt fight pac.

    Maybe, read the script well

    1. Make it seem you are winning, ripped through May.
    2. Being so excited, headbutt him intentionally.
    3. Then appear apologetic(extremely).
    4. Apologize with open arms and get hit.
    5. Stay on the canvas

They forgot to add: look frustrated and Mad at the loss.

I wrote an article saying its not safe to trust the big fights anymore....boxing is taking on a new image, a more commercial image to keep it at a competitive level

Yea. Every-time I re-watch it it looks suspicious.

Ortiz is literally the stupidest person in the world. For wanting to apologize while looking away from Floyd for 3-5 seconds. And Cortez, just somewhere else. And then when Ortiz gets hit he doesn't even try to protect himself. I don't think he was out of it because I think he could have gotten up instead of doing his looking for quarters routine.

Look, bizarre as hell, maybe not staged. To me, if it was all for real then Ortiz should quit on himself and didn't get up. The video game headbutt was all out of frustrating. Whatever growth or transformation people thought they saw from his JR WW fight to WW is long ago. There was no young man fighting possessed. No young hungry lion. No kid of the Berto fight mentally. Sure... Floyd had something to do with that. But his mental framework was pathetic. The right hand he didn't see and took from Berto was harder.

Honestly, it was Ortiz mental mindset that seemed so good against Berto. I don't know why Ortiz was giving Floyd so much respect. I still think he could've given Floyd some issues if he fought right and didn't go off the rail. It was already more competitive than Marquez and the Mosley fights. But yeah, I fell into hype a little I guess.

No way. If it wasn't a fix then anyone would have been furious over the ending. Ortiz wouldn't be smiling because Cortez is a **** ref and he just got suckered punched to oblivion. No one can control their emotions that well during those events unless they were expecting it.

Maybe they expected Ortiz to be able to figure that one out for himself.

Floyd has no appetite for facing Pac.

Hence the offer of a rematch to a clearly overmatched opponent

    Floyd fears pac.

Without a doubt the whole thing seemed fixed from Jesse Vargas right on down to Larry Merchant. Just seemed like one big show... and I'm a huge fan of Floyds. Not saying it was but it definitely seemed that way.
