anyone else seen this video? what constitutes the wrong use of the elbows. in some instances, floyd clearly sticks his elbows to the face. it may not be a direct blow but heck it can hurt too.
If not mistaken, Ortiz explains he got caught in the heat of the moment as he had Floyd back in the rope and Floyd put his elbow out. How legal it is? It depends what referee is out. This is getting more attention now. Every fighter uses tactics that are not view as fair and even L. Lewis once commented on this if you could get away with it, then why not. Because if you dont take advantge of it then your opponent will...
floyd turns his body in a position where you can't hit him because it will be called illegal. like when he ducks low.. he's showing you nothing but the back of his head and there's nothing you can hit unless you come down as well and go for a really low uppercut. but then that would look way too wrong. it's not just the elbows really. moreso a variety of what he does and as you say, what he can get away with. this is a guy who says he firmly believes in fighters fighting on an even playing field. but then he goes for every bit of advantage he can. if these are illegal, they need to be pointed out.
what ortiz did is wrong and no one should ever condone it. i'm referring not to the ortiz fight alone but some tactics floyd employs. some things i've seen him do most notably against hatton and jmm.
come on now, please answer seriously instead of just insulting. also, don't be so proud of that ko which was 100% uncontested and unexpected anyway. i would be surprised if floyd hadn't knocked out ortiz with those
Every KO is unexpected, no professional boxer wants to be knocked out. Floyd knocked Vic out while Berto couldn't, now people know that Mayweather has more power than previously expected and they are nervous.
if you had ortiz looking away and being apologetic as soft as a cat, he would have folded against 2 uncontested shots against berto too. there is no comparison. i don't think you're discussing anything serious unless it's a strike on the *******s right bama?
not only in the last fight. take a look at the videos. it's one fight but shows samples of some of the things he repeatedly did against the others as well.
The videos are poor and if anything only highlight what a poor referee Joe Cortez is. I have never seen in a boxing rule book it is illegal to bend over - however I may be wrong. Also not one of they elbows are illegal - you are entitled to block punches with elbows. It's not his fault fighters like Hatton and Ortiz were wading in with there head, this is illegal. I'm not saying he doesn't manipulate it to his advantage - but there is a difference between putting an elbow up and someone walking into it and actually elbowing someone in the face. Tim Bradley is notorious for following through with his head, who is worse Bradley or Mayweather??
