B-hop in my opinion is one of the top 10 p4p ever, but he never beats Spinks at 175, he just desn't have the frame to deal with huge LHW legends like Foster and Spinks.
why would this be a joke? What good is the boxing message board if topics are not talked about. Hopkins vs. Spinks would be a decent fight even with Hopkins older. Question is can Hopkins who just beat Pascal beat a great lightheavyweight like Spinks and could it be interesting?
As cagey a veteran as Bhop is, with all his generalship and defense and skill, Spinks would be too much. Spinks was really fast, not only with his hands but with his feet, he threw combinations, he had real power, he had height and reach. A boxer with speed, footwork, punching power, combinations, and great condition, and I don't recall seeing him get hurt at 175 either. Best Bhop can do is lose a decision.
+1 You have to remember how good a fighter Spinks was. This was a guy who cleaned out a deep LHW division. And then took the title from HW Champion Larry Holmes. He was later given a legitimate shot against a prime Mike Tyson who at that point was beginning to become a mythical figure. I think if Hopkins even made it to the 12th round; then that would be a victory. I suppose it would be interesting to the extent that if we were to watch this, we would watch it with the curiosity of seeing what it looks like to dominate and stop Bernard Hopkins. Spinks TKO
Spinks would win a comfortable decision. He has the better jab (one of the best ever), right hand and is at least the equal of hopkins in terms of ring generalship. He also had an awkwardness that would throw hopkins off and prevent him from establishing any real rhythm. B-hop wouldn't be able to sucker spinks into his traps because spinks would be too smart. He was always cool under pressure and you never really saw him lose his composure. If anyone would become fustrated in this fight it would be hopkins and spinks would take advantage of this
