Was it a cheap shot/sucker punch? Or did Floyd do the right thing?

Simple, Protect yourself at all times end of....Naivity on Ortiz' behalf....he should know better.

Cortez waived the fighters back in, so Ortiz should have been ready, even after the first shot, Ortiz was looking at Cortez, surely after you've been cracked in the face the first time, you would have clocked that the other guy is ready to Knock you out!!

Unsportsmanlike behaviour on Floyds part - I doubt anyone expects nothing less from Floyd, but within the rules and most would've have taken advantage. However, it was a very disappointing finish to the fight...I stayed up til 5am to watch that and feel for people who spent serious money on flights/tickets and accommodation.

Another horror show from Cortez though, pretty sure he is in Floyds pocket!!

It's Ortiz's own stupidity, you can even tell from Floyd's body language that he was ready to fight when the ref continued the fight. Ortiz still wanted to kiss and hug, and you know what happened next. Floyd lands a hook, and Ortiz instead of putting on his guard he looks at the ref like: "hey ref, he didn't kissed me back wtf" and Floyd lands the right hand.

 

A little bit of a sucker punch maybe but nothing illegal about the situation. Ortiz was supposed to be fighting.

 

Ref sure did say box , look at the vid , cortez brought his hand together for both fighter to start boxing ..

It WAS a cheap shot, and a little bit cruel. In fact it was a ruthless street move.
But it WAS legal and it WAS fully deserved by Ortiz.

Can't complain. Ortiz has nobody to blame but himself. Bit of a strange ending tho. It had that WWF feeling to it where the bad guy wins with a chair when the ref is not looking.

Can't believe he didn't see that coming, I absolutely KNEW he was going to smash him in the face straight after that handshake. Just like with Mosley you absolutely cannot do that **** with floyd mayweather. Sportsmanlike or not he will smash you.

Of course it was a cheap shot or a sucker punch..... But, it was within the rules. Floyd basically took advantage of the situation where Ortiz was clearly NOT ready and knocked his ass out. With that said Ortiz did create the situation when he decided to play dirty with that headbutt.

 

Beleive I am going to look at it again but no way from what I saw do I recall him sayin time in or box, how could he when the replay of the KO shows Cortez instructing the ringside official to take a point

 

Legal cheap shot and not something a respectable fighter would do. Meanwhile anyone remember wen mayweather first hurt and put down Gatti. Did so right on/at the break when Gatti and ref were still talking

 

Watch the 4th round again , Ortiz used the head-butt THREE times ! He deserved everything he got , perhaps a fine and suspension are in order . At this level head-butting three times is truly despicable . The KO was well deserved .
