No one was confused about Sonny Liston's past and reputation..but back then he was infinitely preferable by many..to the loudmouthed, poetry spouting, braggart that was Cassius Clay. there was a preference of quite a many fans for the guy who didn't run his mouth, big bad Sonny, to the big mouthed Clay.

Not even the biggest Monzon fan can reconcile that monstrous act of his. And who the hell mentioned Ebonics? Why are you trying to make an aversion to Mayweather a racial thing?

 

I have a feeling it will Garrus. With all the long, slow buildup to this fight, I think that the hype and the atmosphere for this fight will snowball to truly epic proportions..and the fight itself will live up to all expectations, frankly.

Larry's reaction was brilliant. Not sure how many commentators would win that verbal exchange, but I thought he made Floyd look foolish in what must have felt like quite a threatening situation, especially if you're 80 years old. Merchant asked the right questions. I hoped that Floyd matured and was able to give a decent post-fight interview now, since his inactive years, but he's still the same adolescent kid he was five years ago.

He's also still probably the most brilliant boxer of this and last decade, so I'll definitely keep watching him.

By the way, Floyd also knocked down Gatti in the first round with a somewhat similar classless move. I'd like to see him try against Pac.
