Ortiz should have kept his guard up; he didn't and his opponent took advantage of the opportunity.

However, what does this fight prove?

It is officially a win on Mayweathers record, but since it was a (legal) sucker punch it didn't really prove that he was the better fighter. Sure, he was ahead on the score cards, but Ortiz WAS connecting and has the kind of power that can make the difference...

On the other hand; Ortiz has another loss on his record, but it doesn't prove that he was the worse fighter. However, by no means does that mean that Ortiz would have won if the fight had gone longer, he was being hit cleanly by Floyd.

At the end of the day the result wasn't conclusive. We didn't get enough rounds. I am not saying that Floyd shouldn't have thrown the sucker punch, because in all honestly Ortiz should have been protecting himself. Still, the sucker punch did rob us of what was looking to be a decent fight.

Once again no one loses but the fans...

If what you're saying is correct, the fans should be demanding a rematch.

That punched that knocked him out didn't prove it but all the punches before it did.

But do we really want it? Ortiz was doing okay, but it didn't look like he was on the verge of beating Floyd. Is it possible that he could have won? Maybe. Still, I wasn't shown enough to make me want to see the rematch over a fight with someone like Pac.

All makes no difference to me, Mayweather was NEVER going to lose that fight last night, Ortiz was always out of his depth as far as im concerned. Slightly Hattonesque.

Im far from a Mayweather fan but on this occasion he got headbutted, he didnt play on it at all, his body langauge was all about gettin on with the fight, Cortez motioned for the fight to go ahead and the one who threw the 1st cheap shot got hit with a cheap shot in return.

So **** him. It mattered not though because there was only ever guna be a Mayweather win and he would of stopped him. Out of his depth.

They're confused if they cry for a rematch, they have to support it, but they know the outcome would be very similar.

Floyd must be sitting back thinking "It's your choice"

I totally agree with you. Sad day in boxing. We need Mayweather vs Pacquiao now more then ever.

We all knew that Floyd was going to land punches at a much larger percentage than Ortiz. I think the question has to be whether it looked like Floyd was hurting Ortiz (excluding the sucker punch)? Ortiz was still walking through Floyd's punches.

Once again, I don't want to see a rematch. I am pretty sure Floyd would have won. Yet, that certainty doesn't come from anything I saw in their match...

Stop with the bull**** that Ortiz is on his way getting to Floyd. The fight is turning into a massacre. Thats the best thing that could have happened to Ortiz rather than a prolonged beatdown.

Ortiz was doing well, not winning the fight, but he was catching Floyd with solid shots and on two occasions in the fourth round pushed Floyd back to the ropes with hard combos. One of them was just before the headbutt, four good punches plus a body shot, which made his choice to billy goat Floyd even more inexplicable.

He was giving way more trouble to Floyd than JMM or Mosley(who besides the two right hands ammounted to nothing). Was he winning the fight? No. Was he in there? Yes.

It was always going to be a meaningless win. Ortiz achieved nothing at 140, and he had one win at welter. His fight with Berto suggested he would be easy pickings for right hand counters from a master counterpuncher like Floyd, and it went as expected. Of course Floyd will tell you he fought this incredible fighter coming off one of the greatest wins of all time, and that makes it a great victory.

I'd liked to have seen Mayweathers conditioning in the late rounds since that's where the Pac fight will be won or lost, if it ever happens of course.

I am not "crying for a rematch". However, I still feel like it is a shame that the fight ended the way it did. It didn't prove much.

You should feel similarly; don't you want Floyd to win a fight without some kind of controversy? Every freaking fight. This was a fight where he was taking on someone who wasn't old, who belonged in the weight class, who was strong and who was coming off a quality win. This was Floyd's moment to get a legit win...

Ortiz was hurting Floyd in the 4th round, he was rushing back to the ropes after getting nailed by hard left and right hands. One was right before the headbutt.

They played it in slow mo for those of you that can't tell when punches land.
