Damn nice observation. I didn't think Cortez ever gave the fight command. So the ref maybe had his eyes off the fighters as he was going to call time, but he had already given the fight command. Still one way or another he contributed to that mess.

It was one sided from a score card perspective... but a fight is a lot more deep and has many more layers than just at the surface. Ortiz was doing A LOT better than anyone expected. Landing straight left after straight left on a far superior fighter in all areas was very surprising. Floyd most likely would have won....he was landing more accurate shots and avoiding more punches than Vic...but that's Floyd's style.. Victor can eat a few to land ONE...and that ONE is more damaging than the 3 shots he ate as collateral damage.

I honestly thought Floyd would have easily schooled Ortiz but Floyd was in a real fight. .. One he was winning and controlling for the most part. But Ortiz had success in EVERY round. Usually Floyd doens't get hit or doesn't let his oppoent have any success.

Ortiz is an idiot for not protecting himself ... esp after seeing Floyd do similiar sht to Gatti and Mosley. This outcome probably benefited him .. assuming he would have gotten his ass handed to him later anyway.

Mayweather - legal but a cheap shot. but Ortiz fouled him first, ppl seem to forget that.

Cortez - I wanna know wtf was he doing this whole time? Such a mess. This guy shouldn't be allowed to ref .. pathetic.

The punch was legal, but it was a cheapshot. How can anyone argue with that? Had it been the other way around, no one would be defending Ortiz. I don't care which fighter won, I was supporting Mayweather. But where is the honor that boxing was known for?

    Handwrap scandals

    Cheap shot KO's

    Corrupt Judges

    Mismatch PPV fights

    Incompetent Referees

    Shady promoters

    Overpriced fights

    Bull**** vacant title fights

    Weight classes every couple pounds

    multiple champions per weight class.

Yesterday night made me realize. Boxing is dying. It's no where near the sport it was ten years ago.

I for one am losing all my love for this sport, year by year.

No matter how you look at it, the fight was a disgrace to Boxing. Ortiz played dirty, and so did Mayweather. There is nothing to celebrate about.

If Ortiz had beaten the count, then everyone would be saying that Floyd simply paid him back for the incredibly blatant head butt.

That's probably all Floyd wanted. It's too bad it ended there instead of Floyd having the opportunity to completely dominate & embarrass Ortiz for a few more rounds.
