Ali and Louis are great no doubt!

However, when most people say they were indestructible i call BS!

To say the Foreman, Tyson, Liston, Holmes etc would not have great chance of beating them is stupid.

I agree. I am not sure why he is overrated the way he is. One win against a legit great, and then that loss is easily reversed when Ray boxes. He is great like those other guys, but to be what most rate him as top 10 ATG, he should have beaten Hearns and Benitez at a weight of 154 he fought at before they ever did.

he still lost to Hagler. And a year and a half before Hagler, Duran lost easily to Benitez, and 7 months after Hagler he was stopped by Hearns in 2 rounds at weight he was champion at.

Some good picks there. The Duran and Hagler apologists are among some of the most repugnant and most pitiful of all fanbases in boxing.

It is, but they undoubtedly set themselves apart from those fighters in terms of resume.

Hearns only lasted for 66 fights.
    Hagler for 65 fights.
    Leonard for 40 fights.

Duran was still competing with the best at above his natural fighting weight after his 73rd fight.

I think it is very hard to call any fighter with over 100 wins overrated.

What is a fair assessment of these two fighters 'greatness' then?

Whitaker isn't overrated. He's the second best of his generation. Great fighter. Hagler might be though. I can't give him the same love i give the MW's who tore it up at the weight and then went on to bigger and badder things.

    Sugar Ray Leonard.
He beat a young Hearns on a somewhat suspicious stoppage, in my opinion.
He never gave Hearns a rematch.

His greatest victory was his second fight with Duran. He knew Duran’s penchant for partying after fights so his camp made Duran agree to a fight just 5 months after the first one. Even though Duran had to lose a lot of weight and did little training he was still only two points behind on one card and one point behind on another before he quit.
He beat a faded Hagler in a very close decision. He faced him only after boxing went to 12 rounds instead of 15 (something he been campaigning for). He ran from an old Duran in the third fight. He avoided Aaron Pryor. He got thumped by Hector Camacho and Terry Norris.

:good In terms of ranking him as a Middleweight though, I can't see him being 'overrated' at all. He wasn't massive either, those who scorn him for not fighting, for example Mike Spinks, are mental IMO.
