If you watch the end again you see that they touch gloves which is the norm after a break or a foul Ortiz continued to try and hug and steps back. Hell May might have thought that he was gonna clinch and decided to back up, so his opening and let him have it. Ortiz was not down and the ref did not call break in fact he told him to fight . . . not hug.
