First poster that made me consider if Floyd perhaps should have acted different, after all :think

Preaching of this kind feels a bit misplaced in a boxing forum, but still kind of hard to disagree with.

you should have enough sense to raise you own children, not look for someone else to be their role model.. Especially an athlete who is millions of dollars to win.. So where is the ethics in that?, paid to win.. That alone should tell you to raise your own kid not to take athletes and Television seriously.

To be honest I didn't want it to happen I thought he would get up and I wanted the fight to continue. It was a action filled fight.

    well said on both accounts.

ortiz could have broken pbf's jaw with the head-ram. he should have been instantly disqualified to set a precedent.

boxing doesnt need **** like that.

No one ever said Floyd is perfect but his distractor love to hold him to that mold.

Second the ref has already warned you the fight has restarted, start ****ing fighting .. Lesson to kid pay attention or life will slap the **** out of you..
second lesson every action has a positive and negative reaction..
Ortiz made a negative action, that was met with an equal action,, his action was he failed to pay attention that the ref told him to fight, lets forget the head but and focus what the refs instruction were "fight" "lets go" not once did the he the ref say "lets hug" or "Drop your hands".. These are situation and decision ortiz had full control over but yet he fail to do so. and to that I "say la vie"

Yeah, right, He just showed how stupid he was. Anybody can say that and it wont mean ****. Especially when he says to a guy who is arguably the greatest of this generation. A guy who never boxed says if he was younger he would woop a champs ass? Cmon, thats just stupid.

Confused? I'm not confused about a goddamn thing. And I'm not a kid by a long shot.

When I say "hate' I mean it in the form of discredit. Merchant tries to discredit everything Floyd does in the ring. Merchant is biased and will say anything to discredit certain fighters. Enough is enough. Those of us who just happen to root for some of the other fighters he discredits are sick of him, and have been for a while. It's just the people who hate certain types of fighters who agree with him and egg him on.

There is a huge difference in Floyd playing the bad guy who is hated, and Merchant trying to take away credit for what he does. If you can't see the difference, then it's you and that other jive turkey who are confused.

And a schooling is only a matter of opinion. People who don't like Floyd seem to always love Merchant. Coincidence? So those same people will automatically assume Larry schooled him. It's as simple as that. People who root for Floyd, BHop, or RJJ are going to detest Merchant because of how clearly biased he is against these guys, and they are going to be on Floyd's side of this, even though in my case, I'm not a real huge Floyd fan. I just defend him a lot on here because of the unnecessary hate.

I couldn't stand Holyfield at the time because of his self-righteousness....

How the **** do you assume that?

I died a thousand deaths the night Mike Tyson lost to him. Nothing felt worse than that except Miami losing to Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl.:|

And Floyd handled Larry perfectly. He told him to interview someone else, talked a little more ****, and he walked off. Larry was standing there looking ****ing stupid like he had wet his depends.

    True.

But Merchant also approached Mayweather very aggressively and was obviously very judgmental about Floyd's final punches. Instead, he told Ortiz that he didn't have to be apologetic for head-butting his opponent, and also he didn't comment on Ortiz' claim that it wasn't intentional, when even a 5-year old could see he jumped in the air and tried to bust Mayweather's mouth with his head.

Merchant is often hilarious and always speaks his mind, but his approach on the two fighters right after the bout was the definition of double standards.
