Larry Merchant got the ass chewing he deserved.

Merchant is garbage.
His boxing knowledge is limited.
He provides a distorted perception during the fight favoring the fighter he wants to win.
When I am watching a fight that he is commenting, I have to shut the sond off so I can enjoy.
Half the time he slurs his words and appears drunk.
Time to say BYE to Larry Merchant.
Get him out of there.

You´re right, Larry was pecking away at Floyd with repetitive questions asked from different angles and Floyd´s response was actually understandable, but in most people´s eyes Larry still walked away the winner of that exchange. Larry been in show biz before PBF was even born and it showed. Merchant handled his trash talk with ease.

BTW, Larry did give props to Floyd on the fight, in many instances.

BTW, the focal point of the fight was obviously the ending and that´s rightly where Merchant focused his questions. It was controversial and we wanted to know more about it.

BTW, asking repetitive questions, yet in different ways, is a legit journalistic technique used for eons. Credit to Mayweather for seeing through it. But the way he handled it was rather classless and in the end the gutter talking man- child got owned.

I didn't see Merchant do anything wrong but try to ask questions, his job. Floyd was the one in there with a chip on his shoulder which exploded into a childish and abusive rant. Ellerbe was equally as pathetic, you could by his reaction they already had something against Larry.

 

I believe Larry when he said Floyd new what question was coming next and avoided it.

 

My observation was that Mayweathers' outburst in this case was not wholly related to this ONE instance, but it was a culmination of YEARS of what FMJ viewed as biased, and opinionated callings of his fights.

And in relation to the people quoting what Merchant said right after the knock out, Floyd wasn't in a position to hear that praise...

 

And yet all of his fans were, and they still maintain the old man does nothing but criticise Floyd Mayweather Jr.
