He might have been checking to see if the timekeeper started the clock.

BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER. Let's try this again, since the poor OP still doesn't understand:

What the timekeeper did or didn't do has no bearing on the fight. He's supposed to follow the ref, as are the fighters.

Do you think Ortiz should have looked to the timekeeper, to make sure time was "officially" in before putting up his guard?

Do you think, if Ortiz HAD started to fight, but Floyd still knocked him out, that the timekeeper would have jumped up and demanded a do-over, because he hadn't officially started the clock?

    It doesn't work that way.

Again if this is too challenging for some of you to understand go back to your Floyds the man threads and stay the **** away from a real boxing thread.

My point was that you timeline is not really what happened in the ring . . . there was no two hugs, and all that other **** , it was lets go, touch gloves, ortiz *** extra hug, 2 piece combo, and good night Irene . . . easily done in 9 seconds. Once again the timekeeper messed up buy not ringing the bell . . it has been known to happen . . . what word did you not understand. A number of plausible things could have happened that the bell did not ring while ortiz was down

Well its not Floyd or Ortiz fault if the time wasn't running. Ref motioned for them to continue and said "let's go." I think every boxer in the world would have started fighting again(except for Ortiz of course). Nitpicking it to death just because he said lets go instead of box won't change the result.

I wouldnt be so sure about that...... I know a few people who work for the WBC, and they are going to review this before making their statement on the fight... They cant over rule the outcome but they sure can order a rematch...

And really the kid should get one, he and Floyd both were short changed of a natural outcome...

if given a rematch Ortiz will take it... Beleive me when Floyd couldnt even knock out the smaller Marquez, and couldnt even drop a faded shane mosley, its obvious the only way he can win by knock out is by pulling a ***** move like he did saturday.:deal

Sorry even though Ortiz was dropped and counted out, I would still jump on a rematch just knowing that Floyd didnt beat me the right way, simply based on the fact that he hasnt knocked anybody out at welter not even the man who came up two weight classes to face him.

    Hatton? :patsch

Ortiz isnt mentally ready for Mayweather and a rematch would not change that.

Will he K.O Ortiz if they fight a second time. Yes sir I would be willing to put money on it.

They won't. I promise you that. Maybe if this was a lesser ranked fighter. Even the top guy of the Nevada State Athletic Commission said Floyd did exactly what he was suppose to do. Add that with all the Boxing analysts and fellow boxer's alike saying Ortiz deserved what he got. There is no one putting any pressure on them to make a rematch. WBC is just going through the motions.

He would probably take it for the money only. He knows he can't beat Floyd.
This thread is pure bs, the ref brought them back together and told them to fight, Ortiz wanted to keep hugging and kissing and Floyd was just pissed about the headbutt and knocked him out LEGALLY.

Ali and SRR also used to beat women :think infact i'm sure Ali was quite racist at one point to :deal but when it was all said and done how did that affect their ring legacy? yes you guessed right it didn't.

Floyds legacy will never match Alis nor beat it, Floyd will be mostly remembered for Ducking Pacquiao, Beating up on his wife and his kids, ordering body gaurds to shoot fans that said they wanted him to lose...

He will not be remembered for doing anything great because he lacks the balls do step up and be great.
