Bob Arum: Manny thinks Money May would be an easy fight

that was before the new tax law was approved. roach has no choice but to split pac's training camp so as not to exceed the maximum allowable training period that a foreigner like pacquiao can use. roachstill doesn't want pac to train in the philippines back then because of the distractions so he suggested mexico as an alternate. but pac chose baguio and roach has since then loved the place.

of course it's better for pac to train for a floyd fight with no distraction but he would have to pay maybe hundeds of thousands or maybe millions just because of these excess days.

 

Is there anything blocking Pac from becoming an American citizen? He already owns homes here. Not saying he should move, but is there anyway he can do that?

I don't know if you're just being naive or plain dumb. The point is, Pac would pay maybe millions of taxes. Can you imagine what's a million dollars in Philippine money? Pac is a one-man-charity in his province. He literally gives food and money to the poor who lines outside his house. That million he'll pay for taxes he'd rather give it to his constituents... none except maybe pac doesn't want to be one. he could train for anytime that he wants in america but he would pay basically more taxes as a citizen. furthermore, he would pay double tax if he decides to retain his filipino citizenship (dual citizenship).

also he is a politician now and it would be unwise to run for public office and be seen as carrying a foreign citizenship.

answer this. so what if pacquiao suddenly demands that the fight should happen in non-tax friendly states like new york instead of las vegas. should floyd just accept his demand since floyd would be making more money than any of his other fights and floyd should just pay the higher tax in new york?

it just goes to show that pac's team are always conceeding to make the fight happen while floyd's team are always moving the goal post.

 

Floyd initially conceded to all Pac's demands about gloves, weight, ring entrances, purse split and etc. There is only one thing Floyd has not waivered on and requested, that is Olympic style drug testing.
