commentators are allowed to offer some opinion but merchant takes it way beyond that and is blatantly biased.

As a rep for HBO for the last 30 years, merchant should be embarrassed the way the interview went down but actually he was wanting that confrontation and was thrilled it happened. Mayweather was not the one that wanted the confrontation, he wanted a normal interview.

There was nothing Larry Merchant said that warranted the behavior Money May portrayed that night...

Money May just got way too insecure and went defensive. Almost seems that Money Mayweather felt he did something wrong...hmm

No problem. I was asking for evidence because I think what some posters here consider a slight against Floyd Mayweather might be something else entirely to someone else. For example, I don't think anything Larry Merchant said during the Baldomir post-fight interview was unfair, and yet he found himself being cussed out by Floyd Mayweather, again.

So, basically you're saying an 80 year old man punked Mayweather? That interview was just brutal, Larry is such an old pro he took advantage of this hapless street urchin and bitched-slapped him in full view of millions.

Larry is the best at what he does, and if anybody disrespected anybody it was Floyd to that 80 yr old man. This is obviously a racial issue... See who's posting the hate towards Larry and you'll see it clearly.... Ask NeckyBreakyAickey, right NBA???? BTW, how's your favorite fighter doing?? Any stalkings towards PaulieW lately?? Again, Larry is THE BEST, in my unbiased, humble opinion!

Can't believe people are excusing Mayweather's behaviour. The post-fight interview by Merchant was fine. Nothing he said during that time warranted such a response that Floyd gave. Past-history between the two irrelevant.

Merchant is an employee of HBO. HBO is in the entertainment business. Floyd is in the Entertainment business. It is Merchant job to ask those questions which viewers want answered.

Floyd was upset after Merchant cut him off with the "I would like to thank all my fans for purchasing....blah blah." Floyd thanking the buyers right after he cut that entertainment short unnecessarily. Ridiculous!

Floyd decided to accept the $25million. And he knew HBO's crew. He can man-up answer a few questions and try to be a professional.

He answered the question just not the way Larry (or you) wanted him to.

Watch again, listen closely, and read between the lines.

Its no secret that Merchant doesnt like Mayweather, and their interviews over the years have more than supported this. Merchant's questions have never been the problem, its his approach and how he asks his questions. His OPINION of the fight ending with a "suckerpunch" doesnt change the FACT that he needs to be an objective interviewer. Merchant is the parent that will never be pleased, and as much as Mayweather tries to tolerate him, he reached his breaking point on Saturday night. Merchant simply approached Mayweather incorrectly and yes, coupled with the way the fight ended and the boos, it set him off. But Merchant still shouldve began the interview with the FACT that all of this snowballed from an ILLEGAL headbutt by Ortiz or understand that although Mayweather reacted within the rules, it was generated by his anger. Merchant as an interviewer/reporter could not see past the fact this his OPINION of how the fight ended shouldnt prevent him from doing his job properly.

Larry always manages to sound very impartial, rational, and cool headed whenever he speaks about Floyd for online interviews.:thumbsup
