brook is untested but apart from his win agaisnt berto, who has ortiz defeated that are upper tier. Old nate campbell or harris. madiana broke him, peterson from having a nightmare start finished the fight far better got the draw.

Ortiz before berto was a lower top ten light welter no more, that's where brook is in most ratings as well at welter, lower top 10.

Not saying brook wins, but to assume ortiz would demolish him is exaggarated.
Ortiz is not the hardest to hit in the world and is a bit of a mental ******.

Has there been any cause for concern with Brook's chin? :think

Ortiz vs Yosser Hughes would be a good match up.

Wow, Brook's biggest win to date is a 40 year old Lovemore N'dou and suddenly he's world-class?? Was N'dou even ranked in the top 50 at the time? And some people on this forum call Khan over-rated......:patsch

Whom against? Was it early on against someone obscure or is there likely to be footage of it readily found?

Sometimes it's less about which names one yet has on their resume as about their form against the better names they do have. :nono

It's clear he's a cut above domestic level the UK. Whether he can hack it at elite level remains to be seen but surely he can be accepted as world-class (if defined as "capable of at least challenging for a legitimate world title, if not actually securing one"). When your native land fails to offer up even a slight challenge, you're something above domestic class.

Agreed. And Ortiz is not exactly on a great run, he is not elite himself. Brook has to step it up at some point, this seems a better option for Brook than many. A guy with good name recognition globally, former beltholder, been in with some big names, but obviously very beatable. Everyone is untested at some point, I doubt that Brook would see much to fear in Ortiz. Not saying that Brook would necessarily win - we have not seen enough of him to judge - but I like it as a matchup.
