That opinion is nonsensical, because Tarver 1 is one of the strongest wins on Jones's resume. To suggest that he would be considered greater without it makes no sense. If you believe that Jones suffering defeats after he was clearly shot to **** dilutes the greatness he earned in his career, more fool you.

I disagree with this. Many people who frequent the General Forum only know of the boxing world of today - it is a forum about the happenings of today, after all. For people who've never seen Pernell Whitaker fight and/or don't know much about his career, which is perfectly permissible for younger fans or fans who aren't from the USA, then Pacquiao is an extremely valid choice in this poll. The guy has won world titles at flyweight and welterweight, who else in the poll has done that? In terms of cold hard achievement, Pacquiao is up there. Of course he is. You and I know Whitaker was a significantly better fighter because we've seen him, but it's no slight on people on here if they haven't, because this isn't the Classic Forum and there are a lot of teenage and/or global fans on this forum.

Pea isn't a big name like SRL or Hagler, for whatever reason. He's a fighter that noobs get into after being on here for some time. He's head and shoulders above everyone else on the list IMO. Pac is my man, but 1989-1994 Whitaker was as fine a fighter as there has ever been as I see it.

as clear as it was that Lewis was robbed in the 1st fight - it was just as blatant that Evander was robbed in the 2nd - lewis got the nod more in an attempt to see justice done for the appaling 1st fight draw than for anything he did in the 2nd fight.
