what are you morons talking about? there was high drama in that fight, and look at the chatter and talk that is the result of it. That was huge for the sport of boxing! a radio station I was listening to at work, that has never said a SINGLE THING about boxing since I've listened to it, were talking about what happened.
Dave Meltzer - Brock Lesnar drew 1.7million to Mayweather's 1million in 2009 and in 2010 drew just over 2million to Mayweather's 1.4million.
Well lesner fought twice in 2010. Mayweather fought once. For all this rubbish about the fight was bad for boxing I just read the PPV sold 300,000 the next day. Not exactly an event which has turned prople off boxing.
I never said it was. But you said nobody in the UFC has drawn like Mayweather and Lesnar quite clearly has. Lesnar is the only man other than Tyson to draw over a million times on two separate events in the same year.
It's a load of bull****. Typical myopic UFC PR that has to latch on to Boxing just to keep it's name on the end of everyones lips. ****ing ridiculous.
He headlined the show. The number was not all him obviously (I'd say the UFC 100 brand had more to it than GSP) but given that all four Lesnar title fights have done more than St. Pierre's best headline slot its Lesnar did the lion's share of business.
Face it lesnar did it almost alone. You gotta remember how big a name he was in WWE and all the those fans that wanted to see their hero in a real fight. I don't even watch WWE anymore but, had to see lesnar's fight.
Going to call you out on your BS. In 2010 Brock fought twice, mayweather fought once and in 2009 it was GSP, Brock AND dan henderson that were responsible for that 1.7 million number. Come back when you do a fair comparison.atsch
The Floyd/Victor fight didn't make me grow apart from boxing any further, I thought it was hilarious and a justified decision, the only conclusion I further came to is that Cortez shouldn't be in a boxing ring and Ortiz is an odd character who I will not be rooting for again in my life.
Please tell me a GSP show that has done over a million buys? Please tell me a Dan Henderson pay per view that has done over a million buys...hell show me one that has done over 400,000? Nobody forces Mayweather to fight only once a year. By only fighting once a year he maximizes the marketablity of the one fight he has. Please tell me a year where Floyd Mayweather has headlined two pay per views that did more than a million buys in the USA? The simple fact is that somebody said that nobody has drawn in the UFC like Mayweather. They have in Lesnar.
Doesn't matter. You've got 3 big names on the card, and 2 of those 3 big names are GSP and Brock and they are the 2 biggest names in the UFC! You're trying to compare a card that the top 2 big names in the ufc to a card that has 1 of the big names in boxing. HILARIOUS. Doesn't matter if no one forces him to fight once a year, its still a fact that he only fought once that year and as a result you're making a false comparison. Lesnar doesn't have anywhere close to the drawing power as mayweather or manny or big named mexican boxers do. Like I said, come back when you make a FAIR comparison, like comparing the 2009 card that had lesnar WITHOUT gsp against the 2009 mayweather card.:hi:
So Mayweather doesn't deserve the credit for Star Power due to having Saul Alvarez and Erik Morales on the card? Okay gotcha. And as for Pacquiao...hmmm...that's tough...oh yeah Manny Pacquiao draw less than 800,000 against Joshua Clottey whereas Lesnar draw over a million against Carwin. And again...I'm not arguing that Lesnar is a significantly bigger star than Mayweather or Pacquiao. I'm disputing this ridiculous idea that he's a significantly lesser draw than those two.
Unlike GSP in the UFC, Erik Morales isn't the 2nd top name in the sport of boxing....try again. Missing the point. Let me dumb it down for you since you clearly have trouble grasping the logic here. 1. Brock and GSP are the 2 biggest names in the UFC. 2. Floyd and Manny are the 2 biggest names in boxing. 3.If you're going to compare the numbers of a UFC card that has the 2 biggest names in the UFC, then you need to compare the numbers of a boxing card that has the 2 biggest names in boxing. 4. Since you did not do that, your comparison wasn't fair. I'm sure many people will agree with you if you actually make a fair comparison.
