Wepner stood on his foot actually,Wepner said that he met Ali a few years ago ,and doubted that Ali recognized him as he gave no sign ,but later as they were next to each other Ali stepped on his foot ,looked at him and smiled.

With all due respect Chris, I think you took Hank's post out of context..

If we're talking about chin, i.e. purely being able to take a shot, not recovering ability etc:

    1. Tyson (9)
    2. Ali (2)
    3. Holmes (5)
    4. Holyfield (8)
    5. Marciano (4)
    6. Foreman (7)
    7. Louis (1)
    8. Frazier (6)
    9. Lewis (3)
    10. Johnson (10)

I will add that i think there's very little between Foremans chin and Tysons yet there are 5 spots between them. It's close. I give Tyson the edge because he has a come-forward style yet was only dropped after taking severe beatings. Stood up to Ruddocks best shots while Foreman was dropped hard in a somewhat better version of Ruddock, Lyle.

Consider first that Jeffries was never off his feet in the ring before facing Jack Johnson after a long layoff.

Jeffries not only fought punchers like Bob Fitzsimmons and Tom Sharkey but took everything that they could dish out over prolonged fights without tasting the canvas once. Every other fighter on my list has been decked by lesser punchers than these at some point in their career.

I don't think it would be beyond reason to say that Jeffries chin was close to that of Chuvalo and McCall.

Clifford Byron Hammond had the greatest chin in history. He was only stopped 14 times in 44 losses, which is an outstanding ratio. What's more, only 7 of these stoppages/knockouts came in the first round. One of them being against Joe Louis, the greatest puncher of all time.
