Should Bellew box or fight?

In the lead up, Tony has stated that nobody knows what he is going to do. That usually means the fighter is planning on boxing his opponent. So I think the tactics might be quite similar to the McKenzie tactics. Remember, Tony justified those tactics by saying that he had a big fight with Clev lined up if he won and he has a world title here so this is even more of an incentive for victory so we could see those tactics again.

The question is, does he have the skill to pull that off?

I'm not sure. Clev does use a jab himself and is good at coming inside with his hands up. Plus he has good enough footwork also.

On the flipside, Bellew was baiting Clev in the press conference in London "Dont run! Dont run!!!!" to which Clev replied "what? im going to run from you??!!" lol But Bellew has also talked about how Clev cannot fight backed up. He has also been mouthing about leaving Clev unconscious etc so if we go by all of his bravado and pre fight talk, he will also come to fight and will take the centre of the ring. Again the question is, are these the right tactics?

My opinion is that he should meet Clev head on. I genuinely think Bellew has the power to leave Clev struggling to breath on the canvas. I think Clev will really enjoy coming forward and slugging with Bellew and is too dumb to box... With his father in his corner, its pretty obvious that he will be meeting Bellew head on. I think Tony should stand his ground and try to connect with either hand. We saw Kuziemski have Clev shaken. If Bellew lands the left hook that floored McKenzie or a clean right hand, I would expect to see Clev in a horizontal position immediately.

How do you think Tony should approach the fight tactically?

To answer your question Bellew should look to drag Natahn into a hooking match at every opportunity , additionally Bellew has a solid straight right hand left hook combo , therefore you may see Bellew fainting a jab and leading with a SRH early on

    To comment on your post

Bellew's biggest concern in this fight IMHO is Cleverly's work rate , Bellew has looked 1 paced in his last 3 outings and if Cleverly comes and sets a pace whilst being aggressive , there may not be anything on offer for Bellew the whole fight ...................... as it long as it lasts

Cleverly is not a puncher , but he certainly isnt feather fisted , he's got enough pop to keep Bellew off IMO

Tony will run, probably survive the 12rnds and then move up to cruiser. He will come out with the weight killed blah blah but i went 12rnds with a worldclass fighter blah blah blah.

Tony will make this a war. He knows the best way to do this is to attack from the off.

I think he should stand off and box him, being patient and when Clev decides to come in and unload, Tony can land a shot good enough to finish Clev. I've read people on here saying Clev will destroy him and that Clev has an iron chin and that it will be hopelessly one sided but I've always seen this as a fairly even fight. Clev deffo has the speed and output to win a decision or get a late stoppage but I can't see him staying disciplined enough to not want to hang his balls out and have a brawl. If he does that Tony catches him and stops him. People seem to be overlooking the fact that Clev hasn't fought many natural light heavies and he loses his height and reach advantage here also. This is more about what Clev does than Tony for me. In summary if Clev stays totally disciplined and boxes the entire fight he can get the points win but if he trades he goes.

He HAS to get Clevery to go to war! Nathan is the better boxer of the two, so if he tries to box he'll be beaten. If he drags Clevery into the trenches, he gives himself half a chance IMO.

    Go to war.

Do what Gomez did to Alex Arthur - and hope them *****s and flaws in his armour - come crashing down - like they did with Arthur.

Tony will go into the fight a man and come out a giant whatever way it goes. I think the kid is great and wears his heart on his sleeve live most kids from his city. One thing Im sure about is I have never come on here slagging fighters even when Degale was fighting Paul Smith, so its hard for me to respect the lunitics on here that do it. COYB
