This fight was so close to happening. Imagine how it could have changed people's view point of either fighter had one wone or lost to the other.

If Tyson would have won this fight, I think it would have given Tyson so much clout and people would rank him higher.

If Foreman would have ko's tyon or beat him, I think Tyson's career would have been more devalued and he would not be that big of a draw afterwards. plus Holyfield and Lewis probably would not have fought him because the "beating tyson" factor would have been gone. Foreman probably would have been seen as a top 5 heavyweight as well.

    so many variables to this!:think

Tyson lost to every great fighter he fought, nothing would have changed when he lost to old Foreman.

If Tyson met foreman as an ex champion in 1991 it would still have been seen as a dangerous mismatch, remember foreman had only beat aldison rodrigues and ken lacusta - something achievable for any for other contender at that time. Old Foreman did no better than a long line of other guys against big foot martin, that was his level.

Having foreman’s name on Tyson’s resume would not mean anything more than having old Holmes’s name on his resume. without a title at stake, for all his talk, George would not want Tyson anyway.

Foreman would still beat moorer if he continued his career because he would still have been seen as an easy meat money fight. The hype around george was such that he could land any fight he wanted. There were a lot of fights he did not want.

Any world class HW in foremans shoes would have taken moorer that night. Right place right time.

So no, it would not change anything.

george was a world class contender second time around. He could "hold his own" against selected heavyweights. So "comeback george" was never a great fighter.

Foreman was great because he could hold his own in another generation but holding your own in another generation will never amount to being a great fighter in THAT generation itself.

He beat Holmes and people discredit it.

Beating Foreman wouldn't add the kind mileage to his resume that would elevate him a spot or two. In fact, Ruddock was a better win.

If Tyson had beaten Foreman in '91 then it would of been another decent win over an old name, just like Holmes. I don't think it would have made much difference to Mike's legacy.

If Foreman had beaten Mike then that would of been looked at as a sensation and would have added to George's already legendary status.

If he did beat Tyson maybe it would of messed Goerge's career trajectory and the title shot with Moorer may never of happened?!
At the same time if he beat Tyson then maybe it would of encouraged him to step in with Bowe or Lewis.

90s Foreman would be nothing but a punchbag for any version of Tyson

Foreman would have beaten Tyson if they fought in 1991. It would have been a knockout. A younger Foreman would have wipe the floor with Tyson. If Tyson were trained by Kevin Rooney in 1991, then Tyson wins easily. Tyson even though he was a hard hitter lost a lot of his head movement by 1991 and also his combinations. He became more of a one punch fighter around that time. To beat Foreman he would need to keep working to the body and break him down slowly. An occasional left hook here and there wouldn't be enough.

The biggest mistake that Tyson made in his career was leaving Kevin Rooney. For him that was career suicide.

Tyson would have beaten the snot out of the older Foreman, then everybody would have just shrugged their shoulders and said the at Foreman was shot anyway.

    Not much changes.

The 1991 Tyson didn't have much head movement. He would lose that fight. One of Foreman's looping right hands would do it for Tyson. Then he would have caught Tyson with a few of those uppercuts. Foreman would have leaned on Tyson on the ropes and wore him down slowly. Then Foreman would have jabbed and used his crab like (Ken Norton) like defense to block the head shots. Tyson trying to hit Foreman at that size would be like him hitting a big slab of meat in the freezer.

I don't deny that Foreman would have taken a beating in the process but Foreman had more mental fortitude to weather Tyson's flurries at that stage in his career. Again, if Rooney were in Tyson's corner, then Tyson would win easily. Richi Giachetti (Holmes old trainer) trained tyson until he went to jail. With Richi Giachetti, I don't think so.

I fight regularly at my martial arts dojo and the person who is the most talented doesn't always win. More times than none, it goes to the person with some technique and a strong mental fortitude.
