I would post in a courteous manner if trolling wasn't so damn fun. Talking boxing with the likes of the people on this forum is BORING. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_cIW44Bimg1A/S5GAMFHnhiI/AAAAAAAAAsQ/qaPSD4exf7Q/s400/ObamaFriedChicken.jpg
I can't see Marciano as a 200 pounder or more. I'm sure today he would bulk up, but he didn't fight at that weight. It's like imagining a new Marciano. That weight would affect his speed and his style to a degree. I think Rocky wins against Holyfield. A prime Holyfield was too eager to slug it out, which would work to Rocky's favor. Evander may outbox The Rock and counter effectively, but I think Rocky would wear him down late in the fight. Both men would taste the canvas. I'm certain Holyfield would counter Rocky's wild swings and floor him, but wouldn't keep him down. Rocky would also never let Holyfield walk him backwards the way Tyson did. When Holyfield clinched Mike, Tyson didn't work the body or anything. He just allowed Evander to push him backward. Rocky wouldn't allow himself to be shoved all night.
Might as well go home and call it a day if we're not going to be objective about the most obvious advantages each fighters possesses.
Marciano was a 15 rd fighter with late power. EH was a well conditioned fighter but the steroids starting doing damage and his stamina faded in the late rounds. I do not think he could survive Marciano's pace in a 15 rd fight and let it all hang out but get stopped somewhere between 9-15.....its a matter of styles, can not compare Tyson who gave up to a challenge and never got off the floor to win...Marciano was a different kind of animal
My imagination doesn't extend far enough to envision Evander Holyfield losing to anyone who weighed under 190, when he was at heavyweight and in the peak of his prime.. There are reasons of course, but I haven't the desire to get into them as anyone who has been for at least four years knows that this topic has been beat to ****..
I have most of his fights on videotape when he was a cruiserweight and I would have to agree with you.
whenever this topic gets brought up i have to wonder if we're answering based on who we think ranks higher all time or who would win just this fight head to head? based on styles, strengths, weaknesses, etc. which fighter is most likely to fight just this match?
I picked Holyfield on points but some of you guys are being too rough on Marciano... others do overrate him though. Marciano was only down twice in 49 fights.... he got up and stopped both of those men. He was never stopped... he never even lost. 6-0 (5) vs. Hall of Famers... Louis, Walcott x2, Charles x2, and Moore. He was down vs. Walcott, Marciano KO13. He was down vs. Moore, Marciano KO9. Moore scored more KOs than anybody in pro boxing (141, some sources say 131 though). Walcott could bang as well... he dropped Marciano, Louis (three times) and stopped Ezzard Charles, Harold Johnson, and Elmer Ray among others. 32 of his 51 wins were by KO.
