Yeah I read this too. Then he messed Woodhouse about with weight, and still got a surprise.

Someone posted earlier about the top welters being big hitters, and I agree. Gavin's 25 already, I don't see where he's gonna find significant extra power from his body now to help him compete with those guys.

I think the thing with Frankie is that he is too big for 140 but too small for 147.

If you are a professional boxer, have a history of weight issues & a physique like Gavin's then you shouldnt be surprised when critisism comes your way.

in fact it was in the Boxing Monthly magazine that I read it.

Arnie said that it wasn't that he eats bad things, he ate them at the wrong time, so rather than having fish he had beans on toast or something.

Gavin was stating that at 140 he would be at his best.

Surely it means he ate the right thing at 11pm rather than 7pm?

It’s really dull hearing the same old pish from the whining cry-babies on here. First, if you think Frankie “nearly” lost to Woodhouse, you’re wrong. Don’t confuse Woodhouse doing better than expected with Woodhouse actually winning many rounds. Soon as Frankie put his foot on the pedal in the last round he nearly had Curtis out of there.

Second, “too small” – get a grip. He’s 5’9 or something with broad shoulders. Plus he doesn’t rely on size to win – he’s a sharp puncher, with good movement and sublime defence.

He looked bored in his last few fights, not sloppy or lacking ideas. Just give him the space then judge him in his next performance.

Simply not the case. I am not going to post photos of frankie as i will get crucified but you can see where his physique could improve for the purpose of boxing not just asphetically. He needs to be at 140lbs.

He was getting hit and hurt by Woodhouse a faily limited figther.

we have been hearing "judge me on my next performance" for a long time

He was “hurt” by Woodhouse? I’ve watched the fight twice and I haven’t seen that at all. Woodhouse caught him a few times, but Frankie usually answered right back. In fact, the only person I remember getting hurt was Curtis in the last round.

As for Frankie’s physique – Juan Diaz never had a body beautiful and he was a unified titlist at LW with some top quality wins (including over Katsidis, Diaz, Freitas). Their styles are very different but they have a similarity – neither are huge punchers.

Anyway, how Frankie looks has **** all to do with how he fights. As long as he’s fit for 12 rounds and his reflexes are sharp, that’s all that counts.

And if Jimmy Tibbs (who is someone a little more qualified than you or I) thinks he should be at 147, I would go with that.

I’ve not seen him give a bad performance. I’ve never once thought he was struggling or behind in a fight.

    Ortiz vs Gavin?

Ortiz will come in the ring at 160lbs.And I doubt Gavin has the power to break Ortiz mentally
