He had nothing except raw power. How far do you guys think he would had gotten to if he hadn't killed himself?
hard to say, but he certainly seemed to display more skill with each outing. by now he could've been alot more polished. there would've been some superb fights for him aswell about now (assuming he was still at 135) like rios, marquez, guerrero, katsidis. but we'll never know. shame.
He would have been matched up with pac at 140 after hatton and got knocked out, arum was planning this match up before Oscar made pac move up and valero took his life.
we would be watching pac-valero in november instead of pac-marquez III valero would likely be 30-0 30 kos at this point with wins over khan, perterson, and maybe a maidana/bradley
I would have loved to see him loose a fight by being out boxed so that he could go back to the gym and do some thinking. If they polished him he could have been very very good.
Valero would have iced a terrified Amir Khan within 6 rounds. He would have outbrawled and out-thought limited caveman Maidana and scored a late tko Peterson. . .LOL pure rapage.
He had more skill than people give him credit for. You watch him spar & it seems like a different person to Valero in the ring. He also obviously had a lot of power, a warrior mentality in the ring & he seemed tough and durable. Maidana has done very well for himself & I believe Valero was a lot more skillful (even if he didn't display it in his fights). I think he could have ended up top 10 p4p.
Unfortunately we will never know. But I think he would have continued on his winning way. What a pity his life turned out such a screwup.
