    Johnson was undefeated and has skills. He opted not to risk much and play it safe. Lots who fought for the title, including some Louis, Marciano, Ali, and Holmes fought were worse than Kevin Johnson.

    He was undefeated against club fighter types, but he was far from the worst credentialed challenger.
    Jack Finnegan has that honour.

    Undefeated against 22 bums & tomato cans... oh & a shot-to-**** Bruce Seldon.

    But anyway, i agree Safety Pin is a longshot from the worst credentialed challengers.

    don't know whether this has already been put up here - can't be bothered to go through the 10 pages right now - but David Tua against Lennox Lewis was the worst I've seen - absolutely terrible - shambolick really - didn't try one little bit

    rated or not rated three big jokes.well galento wasnt a joke just a fat man with a mean left hook and some good old fashioned dirty moves.

    I disagree .
    Galento was no 4 in 1938 and the number 1 contender when he fought Louis, in 39.he staggered Louis early ,then dropped him.

    Buddy Baer was no 6 in 1940 and ,7 in 41 when Louis defended against him he left hooked Louis over the top rope and nearly out of the ring,he gave a good account of himself.

    Simon was no 5 when he fought Louis in 1941.
    .
    So all were in the top 10 , those are not the worst of heavyweight title challengers by any stretch of the imagination.

    Richard Dunn takes some beating,who he beat to get a shot at Ali i'll never know he was never remotely the best heavyweight in the UK never mind top ten world rated.
    Also the same goes with Joe Roman against Foreman,he shouldn't have been allowed in the same town never mind a boxing ring.
    Also does anyone know if Roman pre-fight had said something to upset big George? Foreman was particularily brutal and disdainful that night!

    I know it was wbo but henry akinwande vs scott welch was the biggest load of ****!! I've ever seen described as for the heavy weight championship. yeah and just above I saw the name Richard dunn . now there's a man who brought pride to british boxing.D
