Ok , this post is not about strategy, techniques, etc.. its about a trait that all great athletes (or any person who excels at their occupation) have.

Flaws aside, Manny is a special fighter with a rare combination of speed, power, movement and stamina and I am a fan of Manny's no question. So why do I think Floyd beats him.:think....

Aside from the physical advantages (height, reach and so forth), Manny will be bring out the BEST FLOYD we have yet to see.
Let me explain. There are certain qualities that all great athletes have that go beyond mental/physical capabilities ... even heart. That is the ability to unleash the gift that they have inside of them which makes them special.

Lets take Michael Jordan in the playoffs against the Cavaliers in the late 80's. The Bulls were down a point with a couple ticks on the clock. And as most of you will recall, the ball was thrown into MJ. He took a couple of dribbles to the left and pulled up around the free throw line to get his shot off. Cleveland guard Craig Ehlo was defending him (I think someone has a picture of this here on ESb as their avatar). and Ehlo couldnt have defended him any better! He jumped with MJ, was higher than MJ and completely covered MJ' s sight to the basket. But there was something inside of Mike, in addition to his athletic ability that allowed him to hang in the air, adjust his hand positioning while still floating to the left, and hit the game winning jumper which propelled the Bulls into the next round of the playoffs...

And I'm telling you that as great as Floyd has been so far in his career, if and when these two fight, there will be a moment in this fight where Floyd will have to put on his superhero outfit and prove why he is the greatest boxer of his generation. I truly think Manny will push him to deal with somthing he never has dealt with before and will cause Floyd to leave his stamp on his greaness. And though Shane Mosley forced Floyd to show his greatness, I dont think it will be the same type of trouble that manny could/will have him in. I have no doubt about this, but they have to fight first for this to happen.

All comments welcome, agreed or not

I liked it. Floyd says a lot that he never really breaks out his A game in his fights. A lot of athletes just play down to their competition. I think it'll be similar to the 8th round vs Hatton, when the pot shotting Floyd went out and hit Ricky with combination after combination

The same can be said for Pac, and regardless of your fanboyism pac is the mentally stronger of the two.
