Can someone tell me his notable wins and losses by division how good was Ken Buchanan and where did Duran stand at that time? Was he an untested guy who was knocking ppl out or was he an established contender? Thanks Your pal Artdawg

Duran had won a tough fight against then unheralded, but on hindsight great fellow Panamian Ernesto Marcel. He had been KO'ing the usual suspects of the lightweight division and also stopped former super featherweight champion Hiroshi Kobayashi.

He was seen as an underdog, but a legitimate opponent for Buchanan to continue his title reign with. Buchanan was very, very good but there was little he could do to stop Roberto Duran from fulfilling his destiny. On another era he would have had a longer reign because he could really box.

Afterwards Duran cleaned up a good era of lightweights which gets overlooked because there was only one man standing on top, and that was Duran. The likes of Esteban DeJesus, Ray Lampkin and Edwin Viruet were all fine boxers who would have handled themselves in any era.

No, we aren't going to do your homework for you to make it easier to cobble together lazily uninformed arguments that Pacquiao is greater than Duran.

Palamino and Marcel were bad misses on my part but I did get Kobayashi (spelt the name wrong), the others are a tier below the guys on my list.;)

Why did Marcel retire so early?

Didn't see Kobayashi :patsch ...but goes to show you how quality Duran's resume is. Even guys not included in his very best wins were solid fighters, many of whom would've surely made more noise had they been around today.

Marcel in his retirement bout beat a young, but dangerous future ATG in Alexis Arguello.

not great wins if you consider all the guys he fought and lost to like Hearns Benitez Leonard and Hagler!!!! He is starting to look overated a bit even though I love him when he wins. Best names on that list are Pipino Cuaves and Sugar RAy Leonard and Cuevas was washed up and Leonard beat Duran 2 times!!!!. Great fighter but overated a little bit!!!!!
