This is true. We can use hindsight because we hold them to a higher standard now (Floyd's always been held to a high standard), but looking at it from the time it happened you can't necessarily hold it against Pac for "testing the waters".

 

pac's campaign came a little bit later than floyd's but the reason why pac is given more credit for his wins while going up is primarily because floyd is held at a much higher level skillwise.

weights are almost the same but floyd still has a little bit of height advantage and considerable reach advantage. factor in how great he is in utilizing these advantages with his talents, it is expected of him to beat his opponents as he went up.
