hi guys, this thread may have been done to death, but i got thinking the other day, who is the greatest fighter never to hold a world title? either through injury, bad decision, or just being a very good fighter in a great division, any reason will do, with the amount of organisations around today it seems strange that there can be some very good fighters who just never make that extra step. (not counting interims/regular/silver etc, just the highest belt awarded by a body) cheers! :good
Herol Graham and Kirkland Laing spring to mind from this side of the pond. A disgusting human being but Tony Ayala jr.
always thought michael katsidis could have picked up one alphabet title, he deserves it in my opinion, hes better than gatekeeper material
Tony Ayala was ****. Watching him confirms it, overrated and sloppy. Anyways, Packey McFarland, Charley Burley and Jim Driscoll are all good shouts: But Sam Langford is the correct answer.
Sam Langford, Charley Burley, Ll,oyd Marshall, Jimmy Bivins and Holman Williams are good shouts (the first two more than the other three)
Does anybody know how good George Godfrey actually was? I think he was very unlucky that he was just after Jack Johnson because he sounds like he had all the attributes to rule after him.
Langford is greater than Burley IMO. Jimmy Bivins is also a very very good shout, he beat some really good fighters
Langford and Burley aren't even comparable in terms of greatness. Langford could feasibly be ranked the greatest of all time.
