...next, assuming May-Pac can't be agreed (again), and also assuming Cotto can get past Margarito without it taking too much out of him?

I was thinking about this whilst watching the last episode of May-Ortiz 24/7. Both will be coming in to the bout with good victories under their belt, both make good/very good numbers in terms of PPV, both IMO have limited options when it comes to opponents. Even if the bout is at a catchweight of say 150lbs (no belt needs to be on the line)...I'm confident Cotto could still make 147lbs if need be, he just doesn't want to.

I've always wanted to see this bout, and still do. The bout hypes and promotes itself, and also has many angles to garner interest.

Of course, it would make good money.
Eventhough it should have happened several years ago.
I think if cotto beats margarito its very likely he will retire on a pac rematch

Cotto needs to clinch instead of turning his head and trying to roll away from the shots against Marg.

Don't really want to see Cotto-Pac rematch, I don't see any way of victory for Cotto. At least the Cotto-May bout still has that bit of intrigue about it.

2008 was the perfect time for the bout. I was gutted when it never happened.

    Mayweather dominates Cotto.

But the fight still sounds interesting so long as Cotto beats Margarito. Every Puerto Rican would watch it, and Cotto is a big name in America, so drawing numbers will be no problem. So yes i guess it would make

You guys really don't get it.

Floyd won't do any fight with Bob Arum, ever.

Cotto would have to join golden boy for that fight ever to happen.

Have we seen cotto getting outboxed yet though. Margarito basically bulldozed him, same as pacquiao. Even against pacquiao he showed some nice skills. I would like to see how he would approach a fighter with mayweather's style.

pacquaio outboxed him, he took away his money punch and found a home for his own repeatedly whilst imposing his own on cotto. Thats the definition of being outboxed

I think we need to see Mayweather VS Cotto, Margarito and Clottey. Also, although it may seem sick, we also need Pacquiao VS Corrales, Castillo and Hernandez. They're right up Poochiao's alley, anyway, at this point. THEN, we can finally take a sigh of relief and move on.

I suppose so but cotto still landed quite a bit in those opening rounds. He's still has quality skills and I reckon he could still mayweather some problems.

Cotto will probably fight the wolak/bundrage winner if he gets past marg...after that it could be a catchweight fight with martinez and off to retirement...this is what i see happening unless pacquiao is involved. The mayweather fight is 3-4 years too late and like others said Arum is still guarding the gate to all the possible big fights.

So the test demand is a ruse, and maybe Pac's been telling the truth when he says that he would take whatever test Floyd wants.
