maybe, though i doubt it, most if not all people, if you got hit with an unexpected "punch" that didn't ko you
you're first thought would be "what the fu.....?????" and then you realise what's happening

unless you're some super warrior who is used to getting sucker punched

 

The blow wasn't illegal, you could say it wasn't the most respectful thing, but it was definitely legal

 

i was just giving an example, of the other fights where a guy gets hit with an unexpected punch which will usually be illegal

although it might of not been illegal, officially, as cortez(the crook) is the one who decides, in ortiz's mind it definitely wasn't legal

 

I have to aggree here but hey most people already don`t like him so he may as well be the bad guy anyways. Ortiz would have gotten KO'd at some point anyways.

 

Get over it man its done with. Ortiz sure didn't seem like he was too upset after the fight. Money aside, if you just got KTFO in a way in which you thought was unfair, you wouldn't be hugging, smiling, giving a thumbs up to the crowd afterwards.

Yean you are right. Even though it seems like I may be defending Floyd, that's not the case. Sure I am a huge fan of his, but he doesn't pay my bills or feed my fam, I just think he gets way too much hate when in reality he birings a lot of attention to the sport we all are fans of, so I dont understand how boxing fans dont appreciate (not neccessarily RESPECT) what he does for the sport

And yes I remeber the same thing in the Maidana fight which further solidifes my argument. He quit in the maidana fight and was looking for a way out in the Mayweather fight. Same intentions = same reaction

 

I disagree heavily with the notion that Ortiz was "looking for a way out" and thus didn't bother to block/evade the second punch. Contrary to the overwhelming belief that Ortiz was getting beaten up, I actually thought he was having his moments and done well to land a few combinations. So just when he was warming up and things were getting a little interesting, I find it hard to believe he would then 'quit'. Sure, Ortiz is mentally fragile and resorted to a foul when he had no answer for May's tricks, but to say him being knocked by that sucker punch was his way of getting out of the fight, is ridiculous.

And I kinda' agree with what May's intentions were. It was just a little payback for the headbutt. I don't think he was expecing Ortiz to be knocked out from it, though. He was just planning on doing what he did to Mosley - smack him in the mouth, and proceed to outboxing him for the remainder of the 12.

 

That's true. Ortiz' way of dealing with things is to just smile and laugh it off. It wasn't a "Hahah, screw you, bro! I've just got paid for four rounds work. Woohooo!"

 

Ortiz was hoping to get Mayweather DQ'd to win the fight by making it seem the fight was not going on. He remembers his little "oops" and how he got DQ'd. He even said this in Episode 5 of 24/7.

Ortiz wanted out of the ring, and frankly, I don't blame him. I wouldn't have wanted to be there to take the beating he was taking either. The guy knew what was ahead.... about another 3 rounds or so of punishment and then he would have got finished. :deal

s far as your 1st paragraph, I respect your opinion but I think his headbutt was not only out of frustration but he was looking for a way out( he attempted it at least 3 times before the last one). And Berto hit him just as hard if not harder in their fight and he go tup with no problem. yes he was defintely hurt, no question, but a real champion leaves it in all the ring.

And yes he had a few moments, but other than that last flurry, he was getting rocked in that 4th round prior to the headbutt/knockout

He had been retreating since the 3rd round, Floyd was walking him down. Ortizz didn't want to fight no more. If people would take their emotional dislike for Mayweather out of the picture it would be pretty clear.
