Pretty good vid, that. Although it does make Ortiz out to be a little more competitive that he actually was, I agree with a lot of the stuff. I've only had the one initial viewing, and I do remember Ortiz having a lot of success in the few convincing attacks he launched. Which, against Mayweather, is an impressive thing to do.

Need to check out the fight again.

I thought I was the only one who caught it here since that punch is never mentioned here, the punch was laser like and hard to catch on first notice, and even harder to catch since Lampley was dick slurping Ortiz when he clearly wasn't landing ****. After that rund 3 was over Ortiz had to do whatever was necessary to survive cause he knew the beatdown was only gonna get worse, and Floyd neutralized the only Ortiz only punch that was getting through which was the straight left lead by the mid point of round 3.

Honestly, after watching the replay of the fight, Mayweather was the one in danger.

He stopped his body attack for the most part, with the exception of a punch here and there, and focused his attack on Victor's head.

Mayweather appeared slightly uncomfortable being the aggressor, and was missing a considerable amount of punches, despite what compubox would have you believe.

    The statistics were wrong.

Mayweather was landing his right hand with frequency; however, Victor was not hurt by Mayweather's punches even though some of them appeared to be thrown with considerable force.

Since Mayweather began to neglect his body attack and focused soley on throwing hard right hands an occasional combinations, considering his age and the fact that Ortiz would literaly walk right through Mayweather's punches to land his shots, especially to the body, it is more likely that Mayweather would begin to tire rather than Ortiz.

It's easy to think Mayweather was winning the fight if you listen to the commentary and focus on the replay's, but the reality is that Ortiz was landing with considerably high frequency, his punches to Mayweather's body, which were often landed clean, and not on Mayweather' arms or elbows.

In addition, Ortiz was beggining to time Mayweather's step foward right hand, which caused him to get off balance like in the 4th round, where Ortiz let Mayweather get off balance, and then timed him to land a serious left hand while Mayweather appeared to be leaping in the air and then followed it up with a right hook and several other punches.

Mayweather's demeanor when he would smile and shake his head at Ortiz would inspire one to think that Mayweather was winning the fight, but in reality, it was Ortiz that was gaining considerable confidence, and Mayweather was starting to realize that he is human afterall.

Those right hooks that Ortiz threw to Mayweather's head were landing on his temple. It's a dangerous weapon to throw against conventional fighters.

It's crazy how a second watch of a fight can completely change your perception.

Mayweather is vulnerable. I've never seen him vulnerable, but in my opinion, there was a high probability that Ortiz would have knocked him down and possibly stopped him.

His size and strength were overpowering Mayweather who unloaded on Ortiz early with his hardest punches, but then because of the stamina necessary to punch that hard, and the fact that he began to miss more punches in the later rounds, Mayweather would be the one that would weaken.

Mayweather was toying with Ortiz trying to get rounds in, he wasn't even sitting down on his punches, until after the 2 vicious punches after the headbutt.

But hey I guess getting hit with 26 punches in 4 rounds is bad, but when Margarito landed more than 26 punches in 3 separate rounds against Manny, it's was dominate and happened because Manny felt compasion and let Marg hit him all those times:nut

So I guess the flying headbutt was because since Ortiz was winning the fight he could lose a few points, maybe kissing Floyd on the cheek will help....opps guess not.

Also the judges had Floyd up 4-0 so in whos mind was Ortiz winning?

You can believe those numbers, or you can watch the fight again yourself.

To me, it was clear that Ortiz size and strength, were getting to Mayweather.

Mayweather was beggining to realize that he wasn't hurting Ortiz, and he started making mistakes.

Not only would he miss punches, but he would leave himself open and Ortiz was actually starting to time him.

I mean, you can make all those faces that you want, but I don't have anything to gain or lose and trying to provide an objective analysis of the fight.

I suggest that you watch it again. It surprised me as well.

But Ortiz was walking right through Mayweather's shots to land his own, and he was having great success when Mayweather was on the ropes.

He was penetrating his guard consistantly.

I know, it's easy to be fooled by Mayweather's smiling, but those shots were hitting him and Ortiz knew it.

The problem with Mayweather's initial shots are this...Ortiz didn't go down and he didn't appear to be hurt...

Do you honestly think Mayweather could continue with that sort of intensity, despite throwing multiple combinations (often missing), and neglecting a body attack he began earlier?

Not to mention, Mayweather was actualy making technical mistakes that Ortiz managed to capitalize on in round 4, where he managed to hit Mayweather off the step foward right hand with a serious left hand while Mayweather appeared to be airborne.

I think Mayweather expected Ortiz to tire, but he didn't look tired to me. He was conserving his energy, and chose to unleash combinations in spurts.

If Mayweather rematches Ortiz, you got me...

However, if he decides to fight anyone but Pac, Martinez, or Ortiz...

    Well...

I don't know what you can really say in his defense, unless it's somebody ridiculous.

But I think Mayweather found out he was human, and he looked incredibly vulnerable.

It made me think he was too small for the divison, personally, but typically fighters don't blow up to 165 lbs in the welterweight division.

Floyd got very lucky...I'll put it that way.

I don't know why Ortiz decided to headbutt. He said that he lept foward and didn't have the intention of headbutting, but you do have a valid argument, if that was not the case.

And the judges may of had him up 4-0, but judges also said Paul Williams won against Lara.

You can either see the fight for what it was or pretend it didn't happen, but the only way you can find out the truth is to release your biases and just watch the fight.

Bull****, your Glass Jawed, Glass Hearted hero was hurt in that last gif. He wasn't going to make it past eight regardless of the final stanza. And it wasn't a sucker punch, it was a comeuppance and a ***** slap for being insolent and dirty enough to repeatedly intentionally butt.

Ortiz is a Glass Hearted quitter and a Glass Jawed Joke. End of discussion.:deal

Seriously brother, you really need to learn how to judge a fight. The fight was not close. Ortiz was getting thoroughly dominated. Everybody can see it but the *******s, trolls, and guys who don't know boxing. Find me a serious boxing pundit that didn't have Ortiz getting his ass kicked through 4 rounds? You won't find one, because that is what was happening.

You're literally talking out of your ass son and creating scenarios that were not there based on your obvious dislike for Mayweather. Shouldn't be emotional when you're judging a fight.

In my opinion the flying headbutt was all I needed to confirm what I was watching. It was intentional it wasn't something that happened by mistake. It's even debateable that Ortiz started the butt-a-thon in round 1. If you are in the fight of your life and you believe you are winning the fight you don't do flying headbutts unless:

#1 Something is seriously wrong with you mentally.
#2 You are getting beat and you need a way out of the fight, (Aka Jab)
#3 You are trying to get your opponent out of his game mentally so they will engage more.

I believe #2 is the best selection

I'm not asking anyone to agree with me, but try watching the fight again.

    You may be surprised...

    I was.

I believe it was just rough house tactics because as you say, he was doing it from the start.
Once he got caught he over apologised, but the constant butting was just trrying to rought him up.

Except for the part where he was knocked on his ass for dropping his hands like a moron. He doesn't deserve a rematch for that bull****.
