Maybe Ippy could do up a Top 50/100 list of Best Punchers, Defensive Fighters etc etc.

    Food for thought :p

Could well do mate. Would have to find the motivation. Threads like this are a mission. I like the sound of those suggestions though.

We should do a vote on some top ten lists kind of like the guys in Classic forum do. Top ten at certain weights as well as top ten punchers, defensive etc.

Im quite interested in seeing the lists like the examples i suggested. Would love to see which fighters had what qualities but understand the amount of time it takes to formulate such

Whilst Mike was a beast, who up to Douglas was even remotely close to Ali?

...based on my observations I think Tyson could easily handle anything Clay would bring at stated time.

Fair Enough, but hey I knew Storm were going to get beaten by the Warriors/Tigers in the GF Qualifier.

Things are just quite obvious sometimes without having to complicate the scenario with "who has he beaten to suggest such things etc etc"

I just don't see him getting near a fleet footed Clay, who fought far superior opposition in his early years than Tyson faced in his career. If Mike didn't like Buster's jab, he'd truly despise Clay's.

    Hey Tekester.... :happy

I reckon Tyson only looked that good because of his **** opposition.
Don't get me wrong, I liked Tyson, and I think he was pretty awesome, but I think Ali was much smarter and had a better skill set. His size would also have helped.

Just imagine Mike sucking on a prime Larry Holmes jab for 15 rounds he would retire after 9 I reckon . Holmes is one of the most under rated heavyweights of all time IMO . Then we go to guys like Joe Louis and place Tyson in that first golden era how would he have stood up to the likes of Maxi Baer etc ? EVERY FIGHT would have been a 15 round war , would Mike have been up to the task ? He would have been there or there abouts but one thing is for sure that is he wouldn't have been blowing those blokes out like he was doing to Mr Pink etc in the 80,s .

Completely agree about Holmes, Josey. In fact, I think he gives any version of Ali huge amounts of trouble. Larry Legend is one of my all time faves.
