I may have said he was overrated, and I still think he is, but a great HW nonetheless.

It's not my fault Marciano feasted on BUMs, STIFFs, Tomato Cans and NO HOPERs. It's not my fault he's routinely rated in the top 5 [or even top 3] greatest HWs despite the fact his record does not warrant such a rating. It's not my fault the only thing on his record that stands out is his "0".

Marciano may be a great but that does NOT exempt him from being overrated. Truth is, he's both...

Who cares? They beat Egypt's army when Egypt was still unified, took over the capital, and forced the remaining rump state in Thebes to pay homage to them. When you consider that the Hyksos were a pretty small group and took over a massively populated country like Egypt, the hairs you're splitting don't matter.

 

If you read my posts, you'll find that I responded to this EXACT point a page ago. I'll repost it here:

Basically, you assume that the Sumerians, Babylonians, and Levantine people wanted to build pyramids, but couldn't. That's not correct.

The Egyptians didn't need advanced engineering knowledge to build the pyramids. (If you think they did, please explain what knowledge they needed). We know that the Egyptians' grasp of mathematics was pretty rudimentary -- good enough for simple stuff like huge pebble-piles, but not so hot if you want to build the Parthenon. They built the pyramids because they, like the Toltecs, Maya, and Aztecs, had lots of people and lots of time. That's all it takes.

Isn't it far, far more logical -- given how simple pyramid construction is, and how at least three other civilizations less advanced than the Egyptians managed it -- that the civilizations around Egypt simply didn't WANT to build giant, expensive mounds of rubble?

If you want to argue with this rather simple conclusion, feel free to post any sources that show that the Babylonians, Sumerians, or whoever else would actually want to build pyramids.
