First fight for Di Bella expect Di Bella to try and Macklin on the Undercard fight of the Super 6 final. Would be great exposure for Macklin also he would have TV sorted both in the US and UK and Ireland sorted. If you were Macklin you would be on the phone to Di Bella asking for a undercard slot on this fight night. It will open up a lot of places for Mat with it being shown around the world as well.
Just checked the WBO rankings. Champ: Pirog 1. Gennady Martirosyan 2. Andy Lee 10. Brian Vera With GM just after losing to Pirog, a win for Lee should put him into mandatory position.
Just saw clipping on irishboxing of Andys first fight against Vera,still was a shocking decision,but Andy definately was running out of gas,great videos.... Hopefully Andy has learned from it and i think he has and maybe it was a blessing in disguise for Andy as he had to knuckle down and start again and i believe he is a better fighter for it. Is saturdays fight ppv or free to air on sky.??
Sky are covering it to the best of my knowledge. They are definitely showing the Barker/Martinez fight and it's free to air.
I know you mentioned a while back Matt that you trained boxers for number of years. Just out of curiosity, could you remind me what club it was? Also, who was the best boxer you trained over the years? It's always great to hear the perspective of the club trainer, and they certainly do the vast majority of the hard work
Matchroom wouldnt have any problem having Macklin on the undercard. As they are trying to build up a potential fight with Barker. Also Goosen may not have a problem as it could lead to a fight with Paul Williams as well. Money talks and if Di Bella is fully backing Macklin then it could well happen.
