A little bit inquisitive, I guess but looking forward to your thoughts and opinions.

    1. What is your assessment of Mayweather, Jr talent and skills? Is he one of the top 5 fighters of the last two decades (90's and 00's)?

    2. How would you rate his level of competition?

    3. What are your thoughts on the idea that he does not want to fight Pacquaio? The random drug test? The vacation?

    Appreciate your time. Thanks.

    1. One of the best

    2. Pick opposition he is at least 90% sure he can beat

    3. Started as him trying to get a mental edge. Thought Pac would accept and he could then further his games. Now its a battle of ego and he is unwilling to back down.

One of the most effecient fighters I've ever personally seen, and he'd almost certainly make a list of top 5 fighters of the last two decades.

It's honestly not a bad resume by contemporary standards, but fans are entitled to expect more from a fighter of Floyd Mayweather's caliber and self-promotion. We hold him to a higher standard. The names on his resume in the context of his in-ring abilities? Slightly underwhelming.

Floyd fights any fighter he thinks he can beat so long as they bring a good amount of money to the table. Nobody brings more money to the table than Manny Pacquiao, and therefore I come to the conclusion that Floyd isn't certain of victory.

Mayweather is the most talented and highly skilled fighter I've ever seen in my time. However, I can't judge him with the best of the 90s because the best for me are always fighters in highly stacked divisions who battled their way out of it. With Floyd when he reached a similar level he walked away from the welter division and came back when the smoke cleared and the fighters were damaged. He has yet to fight Pac. In other words, Floyd started out at the lighter weights an absolute star but so did many others. The work at the higher weights is where the big question mark is. With Floyd the ending of his career will always be a We Will Never Know.

However I am a fan of his recent decision to stand in front of an opponent and battle it out.

Of the boxers from the 1990-now. Only Pernell Whitaker has been better.
Overall I'd only include along with Whitaker, Benny Leonard, Ray Leonard and Ray Robinson. Mayweather has the ability to beat anyone 130-154.
His ring IQ is second only to Benny Leonard.
I give Mayweather an edge in skills over Roy Jones and Wilfrid Benteiz.
He done everything asked of a top 10 all time great. He should be considered for the top 5.

    2. How would you rate his level of competition? Very good. One thing is for sure. That it has been far better than Pacquiao's.

    3. What are your thoughts on the idea that he does not want to fight Pacquaio? The random drug test? The vacation? The only reason they have not fought is Manny Pacquiao. The only reason. The testing comes down to a minor inconvience. Pacquiao is using them as an excuse not to make the fight. I'd like to see Mayweather fight more often, but I don't seee his vacation as a big deal.

Top 25 fighter all time, I think people who rate him below 50 should be shot.

Most of lore lies in being undefeated, the best any fighter has ever carried their undefeated streak to, and especially for reigning on P4P top 10 lists for literally over a decade.

Great opposition, his resume at 130 is his biggest legacy in terms of accomplishment (I rank only Pryor ahead of him at the weight), though I think his welter resume has a chance to round out mighty fine should he stay there for a few more fights.

Likewise, I think people who rank Floyd among the top 25 fighters of all time should be shot.

    Aaron Pryor's Super Featherweight brother?

I never knew Pryor fought at 130 and became great at that weight too.

I should have refresh myself to boxing knowledge. I am becoming a disgrace to people who have "boxing knowledge".

    1. Definitly, to me, ATLEAST Top 5 in the past 2 decades, I would even put him Top 3, that's just my opinion.

    2. His level of competition is what it is. He's fought most of who he should have I guess, barring a few exceptions. I can't really complain about it minus the few exceptions as stated.

    3. I think it's not that he doesnt want to fight Pac, it's more along the lines of what a previous poster said, ego. As for the vacations, I think it's just that Mayweather gets bored and distracted easily now a days when he's not training.

    imo.

    1. definitely a good boxer
    2. level of competion is above average
    3. osdt is just a smokescreen and is being used to gain mental advantage over pac. only a fool will believe floyd that he is out there to clean out the sport.

    1. Definitely in the Top 5

    2. Level of competition, remember ARUM was hes promoter till baldomir then Floyd became "Money". He Fought DLH, Hatton, Marquez, Mosley and Ortiz. He's done fighting for legacy, its money making time..... boxing is a money sport. Pac is just realizing that now.

    3. IMO, If he was ducking Pac, why even start the negotiations in the first place? I believe he intended to fight Pac, but with Random OSDT, how the hell did he know Pac was going to refuse Random OSDT? Now its just an ego thing, between Floyd,Pac and Arum.

    1) The best defensive boxer since Whitaker. Very talented. Clearly in the top 5 if we are talking about the last 20 years.

    2) At WW, leaves much to be desired. Only in the last few years (actually in his last two fights) that he deepen his resume there. At 130 and 135, solid competition.

    3) I believe he is not that confident that he will beat Pacquaio and maintain his "0" loss record. That explains all the brouhaha about drug testing, no interest to negotiate, concern about his kids' future, sentiments about why it is only now that Pacquaio is fighting him, etc.

    1. Talent, #3 behind Pernell Whitaker and RJJ. Skill, #1 bar none.

    2. As good as any fighter not named Oscar De La Hoya in the same period with the added legacy of never having been defeated. Let's face it, you put him in there with anyone from 135 to 154 and he's going to be a heavy book favorite, there is a reason for that. Personally I feel he has a better resume than Pacquaio, better wins and no losses

    3. Drug test started initially as a head game to get a control point in negotiations and get into Manny Pacquaio's head. The flat out refusal from Bob Arum and his team meant that now it is a sticking point where as before I feel it was just Floyd playing mind games.

Personally I don't think Floyd cares whether or not he fights Pacquiao but you have to understand, Arum is more at fault in this situation than people want to accept.

    1-One of the top boxer

    2-welterweight is weak IMO 130-135 is good/solid

3-Fears losing his "0" and pawn phenomenon is not that normal tbh, so he has his doubts. PAC should have got rid of Arum, take tests, etc etc

Someone mentioned about "if floyd didn't want to fight pacman then why start negotiations?"

Well in the same breath lets be just and ask: why now say pacman has to sort his financial issues out (not give money to arum etc) after PAC has agreed to tests now?
