    yeah mate, I always thought it sounded quite a hard way to qualify, quarters is much better.

    If you get beat by winner or runner up in last 16 you through aswel except for heavy and super heavy who have to go a round better.

    What happens at the Worlds if say Selby and Yafai qualify for the Olympics(very possible)?
    Stalker is at 64 BTW.

    Henry Thomas won a Gold medal in the youth commonwealth games yesterday, I'm not sure about the rest of the results from the final yet. It certainly made it a good year for the Tyne Tees and Wear region winning national titles in:

    2x minor championships - Ben Marksby (Darlington), Marc Dickinson (Birtley).
    4x Schoolboy - Jack Dickinson (Birtley), Isaac Milburn (Birtley), Dave Robson (Birtley) and Mark Johnson (Darlington).
    5x Junior ABA - Isaac Macleod (Sunderland), Jake Slater (Sunderland), Henry Thomas (Darlington), Tom Ward (Birtley) and Callum French (Birtley).
    1x ABA - Danny Phillips (Southbank)
    1x Gold Commonwealth - Simon Vallily (Southbank)
    1x Silver ABA - Bradley Saunders (South Durham)
    6x Boys clubs - Josh Leather (Wellington), Peter Martin (Wellington), Mohammad Waqas (Southbank), Joe Maphosa (Middlebrough), Henry Thomas, Tom Ward.
    2x European Gold - Isaac Macleod, Pat McCormack (Birtley)
    1x European silver - Luke McCormack (Birtley)
    1x world gold - Pat McCormack
    1x world silver - Isaac Macleod
    1x youth commonwealth gold - Henry Thomas.
    1x Female ABA - Amanda Coulson (Hartlepool)

    Thats not including Tri-Nations and other tournaments.

    Looks like the Azerbaijan Boxing Officials try get bribes in early for 2 gold medal's at Olympics.

    Its worrying news. Its especially worrying in relation to the change of location of the world championships which I wasnt aware of. Clearly that also demonstrates that something untoward is going on and its especially unfair on boxers who have trained years for this moment and could potentially be denied because of corrupt officials.

    Now we have to look out for the Azerbaijanis as well as the Cubans in the draw :-(

    Is there an online source for upcoming amateur events or is it just a case of keeping an eye on local clubs posters etc?

    But Barnes can make the Worlds if , as I expect, Shiming goes all the way, and it's by no means certain that he beats Paddy anyway. Edwards can qualify also.

    Try ABAE site on their regional pages or look up the clubs on facebook. Ive been trying to set up a website that has all the info on but although its up I need to wait for all my funding applications to go through so I can hire some staff to keep it updated.

    If you want info on any shows from the Tyne Tees and Wear region I can tell you them.

    That sounds like a great site and will defo be useful.

    I'm based in the north west so thanks anyway. The ABAE North West site doesn't seem to have updated for 12 months or so but will keep checking Facebook pages.
